yea but in the end what did he really acomplish? I use to love Iverson jsut because he was so relentless and gave an all out effort.. He still has a lot of talent but he never turned that talent into playing smart and playing with the team.. Over the last few years I really became a bit dissapointed in AI. You saw how Denver went from a okay team to a contender with a swap for Billups. then you saw how immature AI was on detroit and now Memphis.. It's a shame.. Brooks will never come close to acomplishing as much as AI on a personal level but i sure he plays smart and plays within a system and can be on a championship team with the rockets.
Used to be one of my favorite players. Hopefully he can figure something out quickly; I'd hate to see him end his career like this.
New York Knicks to meet with Allen Iverson after former guard parts ways with Memphis Grizzlies http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...11-16_iverson_could_be_answer_for_knicks.html Sadly, I am not the least bit suprised...Knicks are a wreck
Memphis is one screwed up franchise. You would think they would have discussed who would be the starter before they signed him. I know Iverson was told he would start otherwise why would he go there for 3.3M a year. Now AI is made the fall guy and has another black mark as a malcontent, the Knicks really need a pg but even they might not sign him after this fiasco.
NBA Most Valuable Player (2001) NBA Rookie of the Year (1997) 10× NBA All-Star (2000-2009) 4× NBA Scoring Champion (1999, 2001-2002, 2005) 3× All-NBA First Team (1999, 2001, 2005) 3× All-NBA Second Team (2000, 2002-2003) All-NBA Third Team (2006) NBA All-Rookie First Team (1997) 2× NBA All-Star Game MVP (2001, 2005) and led his team to a Finals appearance... so yea aside from actually winning a title he's done a lot....
The Knicks are the perfect situation for him. Duhon sucks and Iverson's skillset fits the mindless running and gunning they like to do. I was surprised when he didn't go there in the first place.
He was also a cultural phenomenon off the court. Jordan showed wall street that a black athlete was marketable. AI showed Wall Street that a black athelete can be marketable.
Something tells me LeBron wouldn't be caught dead playing with Iverson. LBJ is a student of the game and knows what it takes to win championships. He will look for the right pieces already in place and join that team.
Fair enough. If the knicks lock Iverson up for the next 5 years, I won't expect to see Lebron sniffing around NY then.
Supposedly Iverson's contract is heavily incentive laden. Makes me wonder how much his buyout was after playing three games.
The guy played for only two 50-win teams in his career. He also made it to the Finals from what was probably the weakest conference in the history of the league.
