After 3 games??? They're going to regret this. Then again i shouldn't be surprised when wallace is their GM.
Funny how owners complain about losing money and needing concessions from the players, yet they continue to give out bad contracts all of the time
If he is playing well for them, good for them to lock him up. Can't be afraid to pay your players what the market bares if they are performing. DD
Not really, if you are a small market team you might have to overpay a little or be the first to the market with your own players, just to keep em happy. The Grizz are a pretty decent team ....... DD
Now he is gonna chill and relax. No need to play hard when you already have guaranteed money. One reason why the NFL's CBA is better than the NBA's.
They did the same thing with Gay and handed a max before anybody else even thought about it. That's just their style......overpay now so nobody else can.
Decent? They haven't been relevant in the last 5-8 years now. I agree though with the small market arguement.
They were about the same as us last year, and are young and getting better, they have a nice young core to build around in Gay, Conley, and Gasol. DD
Wow and to think, some didn't believe he would be starting for them this season and might of traded him.
Anyone know the breakdown of the contract? If you take into account the percent raises each year, the first few years sounds like standard starting PG money. The 10M+ the last few years is mostly due to perceived potential.
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Giving a contract like this to a player that doesn't do anything particularly well is going to haunt the franchise. Guaranteed mediocrity for the Grizzlies. I wonder if they would have done this if they hadn't beaten the Mavs and weren't 2-1. I'm not the biggest Aaron Brooks fan in the world, but he must be pretty ticked off right now. Wouldn't surprise me if he struggles for a while. As a human being, AB can't help but let this affect his play. I'm sure a few other players that wanted to sign extensions are unhappy about this.
