It is truly amazing that the Grizzlies could catch Dallas, SA, and, maybe, even LA. Hubie is as good a coach as he was a commentator. They are definitely peaking at the right time and the Rockets are threatening to do the same. If Francis comes alive and Mings stays tough, what could happen? Perhaps the best Western Playoffs in years. It certainly has to be better than last year. And the West is not a shoe in for the championship; the Pacers, Nets, and Pistons could be tough in a series.
all i am saying is Grizz got very lucky, because they played big five many times these teams were not at full strength. Considering that, leading Rox 2.5 games is no evidence of their being a better team. Rox is 4.5 games to the #3 seed also.
The question you need to ask yourself...In how many of those games were the Grizzlies not at full strength? We had two starters out vs. San Antonio. Just FYI, having a better record then the Rockets and being up 2-0 in the season series is an indication of something, you figure out what...
Please don't tell me Miller has the same influence as TD, cause we know it is a joke. I have to give Grizz credit for having a deep roster, and because of it missing two starters didn't hurt your strength very much. But you have to admit that Grizz got extremly lucky for not playing these big 5 at their full strength. Say if Spurs had TD, and Grizz also had everyone, you think Grizz would have got 3 wins? Talk about getting lucky, Grizz won Lakers without Shaq, Kobe and Mailman! And it is very likely you will get to play Lakers one more time when they are missing Kobe. I am not saying Grizz is not good, but I just cannont agree with some Grizz fans on this board saying they have a better team. They think Grizz owns Rox, and someone even say they will get 82-0 on Rox? We will see about it.
Ok, just tell me by what measure you rate the two teams. I mean I would understand if we wre tied 1-1, we had won both game on our homecourt, or if you guys had a better record but by what means are you saying the Rockets are better than the Grizzlies? Check what the Spurs record was with TD out and who happened to be the only team that beat them. We beat the Lakers with the Big 4 on the court, you guys haven't done that yet. You guys played Sacremento w/o Webber, you just couldn't beat them.
I think the Grizz's have made more of a COME UP than the Rockets It is not a diss to Gollum .. . . . but props to Hubie Gollum IMO will hold a Championship trophy WAY before GRIM DEATH [Hubie] Rocket RIver
Here is a article posted a week ago. Grizzlies may be playoff giant killes By Marc Stein ESPN.com Forty days left in the regular season, and a Team To Beat isn't the only thing we're still looking for. We don't have a clear-cut Team No One Wants To Play, either. For a couple reasons. Reason No. 1: There's no such thing as a dangerous lower seed in the Leastern Conference, where the three playoff qualifiers from the following six hopefuls -- New York, Toronto, Boston, Cleveland, Miami and Philadelphia -- will be grateful just to get to the playoffs. None of those six is likely to bring so much as a .500 record into the postseason. Indiana, New Jersey and Detroit will smoke any of these clubs when they get the chance. In the West, meanwhile, there's a different disclaimer. Jerry West's Memphis Grizzlies would definitely qualify as a Team No One Wants To Play, because the Grizz roster, while starless, is nonetheless deep, athletic and dangerous. Memphis will have nothing to lose when it reaches the playoffs for the first time in franchise history, and the Grizz can provide some entertaining first-round viewing if they capitalize on that freedom. However ... There are at least three West heavyweights praying they see the Grizzlies in the first round, because Memphis is on course to finish sixth on the Wild Side. If the current standings hold, that means the team that gets Jerry's Kids in Round 1 will have finished third in the conference standings. And there is no playoff seed at present more coveted than the No. 3 spot out West. San Antonio, Dallas and the L.A. Lakers are chasing it hard, because the two teams that miss out are on course to play each other in the first round. Spurs vs. Lakers? Mavs vs. Lakers? Spurs vs. Mavs? Either team, in any of those scenarios, would undoubtedly rather face the Grizzlies for starters, in spite of the progress they've made under Hubie Brown. Before you ask: Yes, for simplicity's sake, all this assumes that Sacramento and Minnesota are locked into the top two spots, and that Memphis can hold off Houston for sixth. Forty days, in today's unforgiving West, probably is plenty of time to jumble things.
The big glaring issue w/that record, however is the 3-1 against SA. The 1st game in the series Duncan had scored 12 points in 7 minutes (Spurs led 20-10 when he went out)...the game he played the Spurs won easily, then they lost two close ones w/o him. Duncan negates Gasol, there best player. Series quite possibly would have been a Spurs sweep. IMO the luck that Memphis has had w/there matchup w/the Spurs - along w/the Rockets catching the Spurs at full strength 4 times is what has allowed them separation from the Rockets.
Unfortunatey, the Rockets won't deal Yao even if you let CD cherry pick anyone on your team, including Pau. Of course, if Jerry West successfully drives CD insane, then anything can happen.
And we just beat the **** out of Grizz. I cannot see how this is so good a team their record suggests. I am not saying they are bad, but you have to take their record with a discount.
they were playing a back to back..and it was their first loss in 8 games...aren't they allowed to lose?
Sure they are. But they didn't put up a good fight even. They won 7 relatively easy games, not something to brag about as it seems on the paper.
amazing the rockets never get this type of benefit of the doubt and THIS IS THEIR FAN SITE Rocket River
they didnt get it done against seattle tonight and surprise, we are only one game behind in the loss column. by friday the 26th if we play well we could have the chance to take the 6th or 5th seed. believe
Have you guys won 7 in a row at any point? 7 in a row, 4 on the road, 6 against the West and with two starters out....Go Grizz Go. Down go the Pacers!!! You guys are 3 back with 12 to go!!!
After tonight, things just got a little interesting in the Western conference and it very much concerns the Rockets. Minny is now only 2 games behind the Kings and Lakers are only 3.5. Also, the Kings play the Lakers tomorrow, and the way they are currently playing, they may lose or at least have a good chance of losing. That means Minny would be only 1.5 back and the Lakers 2.5. So it still seems that things could change, meaning we really don't know who the Rockets' first round opponent is yet. At this point, I think the Rox best shot is against Minnesota. Wouldn't that be just horrible, terrible luck if Minny got the 1st seed and the Kings got the 2nd?
...and the Grizzlies are just 1.5 games from having home court advantage in the playoffs (although our April schedule is brutal).
