I know some cities have rules against personal grills in apartments. I'm moving to Bryan so I'm going to check out the laws before I go there. I hate using public grills. The weber q120 looks nice, even though its propane. Seems like all I would need.
A weber kettle grill and chimney starter is all I need and, it works great for my big ass paella pan.
Isn't that a porcelain enameled cast iron cooking grate? I don't get how people handle those.....they rust on mine after a year or so even with a covered grill
so, after a lot of deliberation, I ended up with a Kamado Joe. have only done two cooks thus far, rib eyes, and a pork butt, but i've been very happy with the results. i've had it up to ~650 degrees, and it can easily go higher, and did the butt low and slow at ~260. the fire got a little hot at first, but i was able to get it down by cutting back on the air flow. after that, it stayed very steady for ~6-7 hours (i cooked for 5) at 260. the heat retention is amazing. as SpiffyRifi mentioned here you really don't want to open the lid, or the temp will shoot up quickly. i've only used the natural charcoal, have not used any wood, and i don't have any accessories yet, or heat deflector (or even a drip pan). it's beautiful and compact, looks great on the deck. here are some lousy iphone pics: Spoiler smokin' Spoiler fire starter Spoiler lid up Spoiler Hi temp Spoiler low and slow Spoiler still life, with butt Spoiler smoke rings
