i think Eddie is a good fit for this team because he is an excellent shot blocker and a good rebounder who doesn't demand offensive touches. I agree that his offensive game has some hang-ups but overall I am pleased because he fits into the system and plays hard. How many more scorers can you honestly expect to add to a lineup that already features Ming, Franchise and Mobley when you already complain about Ming not getting enough touches on the offensive end? Give the kid some time to fix the shot, but even if he pans out to be only a mediocre offensive player I believe that works out for the rockets just fine because he plays well defensively which is really all we need him to do. You guys need to stop calling for trades that will just add ANOTHER somebody that will want to take shots when we already have 3 guys in that lineup that are more than able to jack up all the shots we need. Give eddie time and stop expecting him to put up KG numbers. He's not KG and we don't need him to be.
Yes, hindsight is usually accurate, but that's only when there's some factual information to back it up. We're talking about who is the better of two players, which is a matter of opinion. Even in hindsight, people can still have different views. In my opinion, his hindsight is probably more like 20-10, but I'm sure he believes it's 20-20. Personally, I believe the Rockets made the right choice in trading for Eddie because he was clearly the better prospect and we had no need for three rookies on the team. The other poster, with the benefit of hindsight, is saying Rockets management made a mistake. I think that's unfair. It's like criticizing someone for not being able to see the future. I mean, this wasn't Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan. No team in the NBA would have taken Jefferson before Griffin!
it's good to see that some Rocket fans are becoming realistic about Eddie..... he has NEVER shown a consistent shot in this league...he has a good game then a bad one (a lot more bad ones though)..... hikanoo49 ... good post. Nobody who has BECOME a superstar in this league has had a FG% as bad as EDDIE Griffin's...THAT says it all. It's time to wake up ..... and agree that the Eddie trade was a BIG mistake......remember we also gave up two other serviceable NBA players as well as Jefferson. Hopefully Coach Rudy T. Learns that it's his job to help Eddie's progress...... and teaches him the art of an Arc....untill then keep watching those BRICK shots.
If you think Jefferson can shoot much better you're kidding yourself. I think a lot of people are under the impression that Jefferson is a spectacular NBA player. I assume this is coming from the highlight dunks on Sportscenter, because it certainly isn't coming from the numbers he produces. He's a great role player, who is a perfect fit for the Nets...nothing more. So, no, I don't agree that it was a BIG mistake, and I think it's way to early to make that assessment. Brandon Armstrong 1.7 ppg Jason Collins 5.4 ppg on 37% shooting Yeah, I really wish we had those guys. We wouldn't even be able to fit them on our roster. Make no mistake about it, those last two picks we traded were nothing more than trash. It was one of the weakest drafts in NBA history. What's the big deal? You know who else shoots a line drive shot? Michael Jordan. And believe me, I'm not comparing Griffin to Jordan, but it shows that having a shot with Arc is somewhat overrated. But I do admit that Eddie needs to do something to improve.
WE do have a problem, it can be fixed if Griff stays in Houston over the off season. He can improve his shot and gain confidence among players that have his interests at heart.
DCKid.... i was just wondering if you had ever seen Jefferson PLay?(A whole game that is?).... He is a lot more than a role player!!!!!....the stuff you see on the Highlights is just the kind of game the guy brings....hard nosed drives to the basket....you telling me the Rockets Can't use a guy like that?!..... Jordon is an EXCEPTION....the guy is the best to EVER play the game...other than him name me some other great players who shot lasers??????...not many?!... I'm just say'in he should CHANGE the way he shoots...or take more higher % shots.....i've watched a lot of games....and he seems to force a lot of bad shots...and not hit his open shots...IT"s A BAD SIGN!!!
High FG% is such a deceptive stat. It could mean a good shooter, or it could signal a guy who takes a lot of jumpers close to the basket, or has a diet mainly of dunks. A lot of guys with a high FG% have no range to speak of.
who ever said that Eddie was a Kobe?! or a Kg?! NOT EVERYONE IS A SUPERSTAR!!!!!! EG is a good player. I believe he will be much better as time goes by....he has improved a lot since last year.
Eddie is working hard. Let's show this manchild some LOVE!!! (EG: show us some dunks, put backs, and add some muscle.)
Finally, Eddie was told to stay on the bench and watch the game! Good Job Coach...now teach him how to shoot. Yao Ming needs to sit for a while too...he needs a vacation. Uprising.......i thought everyone thinks Eddie griffin had the potential of being a superstar....that's why i started this thread...there's no chance he's going to be an offensive threat in this league!!!!!...he's just another Keon Clark.
Put EG on a team with Jason Kidd and Jefferson on a team with a human point guard and you'd be saying what a great player Griffin is and how much Jefferson sucks. Kidd makes his teammates better. Francis doesn't, at least not yet.
???? Griffin had back pains... And anyways...his shot is flat. But they go in. He needs to work on it. Not changing though... Richard Jefferson is good...but I would still like Griffin. We need the defense. Jefferson just has Kidd.
If you think that Jefferson looking good is because of Kidd, you have to admit that Francis is not as good as Kidd, at least in the area of making people around him better. Anyway, I like EG. I think his range is a good fit on a team with a low post scorers (Yao) and slashing guards (Francis and Mobley). But I wish his man to man defense can improve more quickly so that we don't need to be burned by other teams' PFs every game.
