Not sure why people believe that they should get money when they lose someone like they are some sort of charity. The trophy was a gesture from griffin symbolizing the importance of his friend to him. If e gave his trophy to some random family who just lost a loved one it would mean nothing. What exactly would prize money do? If anything he should give the prize money to a charity trying to find a cure for the disease.
To help pay for the funeral...it's not uncommon to help in that manner and families usually welcome the help.
But why does Blake need to give his prize money??? Perhaps Blake volunteered to pay for his friends funeral and just didn't put that info out there?
He doesn't have to, but if he's winning the contest for his friend, then it seems like he'd give his family the whole package, trophy + prize money. Maybe he did volunteer to pay for it already, but it's probably a wash anyway, since he'll probably pay close to what he won. How much is the prize nowadays? Isn't it down to somewhere between $10-20k?
He sounded like an awseome guy to be around with. Those kinda Dudes alwasy get the tough breaks though it seems. Good stuff from Griffin.
