Eddie did show glimpses in the post. Against LA and Shaq he scored 25 points many of those in the paint, got 13 boards and blocked the premier center in the league twice. That was a glimpse of Eddie's potential. Eddie has the potential to be every bit as good as Rasheed only he is longer and looks to have bulked up some. He still hasn't proven he can bring it to table every night but if he does he definitely better than any PF we have.

That was one game. ONE game. I'll make a thread about Charlie Ward having great potential when he scores over 15 this season. Eddie is a good player, not great. He relies too much on his shooting than his inside game. Even the LA game, I don't recall him going inside at all. His defense is not what I was arguing - it was more his offense in the comment that he'd burn us this year.

Sprewell made an impact before his issues (choking incident) - that's the difference. Eddie's really done nothing exemplary to this point. I don't know if Eddie's going to amount to anything in the league, but to compare him at similar points in their careers is a big mistake.

I believe in winning, but not at all costs. Bringing EG back here may also be putting him right back in the mix of things he doesn't need to be in - which is also selfish. I hope he gets his act together, but I've come to the conclusion that it would probably be best for he and the Rockets if it weren't here in Houston.

Eddie has shown flashes of promise and thats it. Saying he is going to become a very good player in this league is a bit premature. Lets see if he can stay on someone's Roster for an entire season without getting into any trouble.

I completely agree... He had the chance to excel here, but because of personal issues...he didn't suceed HERE...

However he did wear a Rockets Uniform...so I have to support him and wish him well...

to me it's about personality. EG has all the tools, many do, but does he have the mental toughness? IMO, sadly....... no. If he had the mental make-up of someone like a Scott Williams (PF, Bucks?) he'd be an all-star (kid has the tools). He does not & i don't think it's a trait one "picks-up".

Your statement was "Eddie didn't show glimpses in the post". Well that was a serious glimpse there and if you watched enough Rocket's games you would know he had others. Yes he was inconsistent and he spent to much time behind the arc but he was a troubled kid trying to compete with men. He didn't handle the pressures of the NBA like KG, Lebron and other great teens coming into the league. But those guys were special cases and for everyone like that there were hundreds of other kids who struggled with the pressure as well. That doesn't change the fact that he was a talent. You can argue that he was a cancer and JVG did the right thing in dumping EG. But he definitely showed signs of talent that would make many believe he could be great. So that talent ever be realized? No one can answer that now not even Eddie. Only time will tell. But I for one believe he will and as a LongTimeRocketFan am deeply disappointed he won't be doing with us.

Sorry guys, but the proof is in the pudding.

If EG truley had that much potential, the Rockets would have put up with his crap. Afterall, this is professional sports.

If his potential was equal to his head case, the Nets would have kept him.

If he was anything more than a curiosity, he would have been signed to a contract before the pre-season camp stared.

I wish EG all the luck in the world, about 30 teams out there passed on him so far. His potential is not considerd that good by the professional evaluators. Move on.

I liked how you used my handle in your ending, clever ;)

I watched every single Rocket game last year. Eddie showed flashes of being a great defensive player, yes. Offensive? No. He had a few games where he scored pretty highly, but all his shots were jumpshots. You never saw him back it down or go to a hook that often. It was non-existant. That you're arguing he had a post game shows that you're not a LongtimeRocketFan :)

I beg to differ LongTimeFan. I have been rooting for the Rockets since they drafted the BIG E. And they weren't even in Houston then.

Oh by the way reports are Eddie will be signing with LA this week.
