The big question again is what is a dysfunctional Eddie Griffin be down out late night?

5am in the freaking morning folks for someone who is trying to set his life straight. Oh well I wish him what he wishes himself.

The sniping here is hilarious. I have to say it does annoy me when names are misspelled -- moreso than other mistakes -- because it's a disrespect to the bearer of that name. But, I wouldn't get in a protracted battle over it (anymore).

On subject, JVG done screwed up. Rocket fans will be complaining about it 5 years from now: how the Rockets booted him off the team after spending so much, only to have him turn into a great power forward. Rudy T knows he's worth another shot. I hope he does go to the Lakers; I bet it would be a good lockerroom for him.

Good lockerroom for him to... beat his ex-girlfriends and shoot at them? He deserves no second chance

For those who care, I heard from my friend who knows Eddie that he's going to Minnesota. She talked to him today and told him she saw him on TV last night and asked if he wanted to go to a club called Bevedere's and Eddie said he was busy getting ready. She said he's reporting to Minny next week. She said he said he wasn't feeling Miami but he didn't say anything about LA or Atlanta. She's a little ditzy so maybe she didn't understand him but that's the scoop as I know it. He's supposed to call back and tell her where he's hanging later so maybe I'll have some more info later. Anyway that's all.

Fox 26 just reported Kevin Mchale was in town with the t'Wolves to check Eddie out, so I think your friend is right.

Well, I, for one, won't be holding my breath or fretting over the POSSIBILITY that this guy actually ends up doing something in the NBA because regardless of what he ends up doing the PLAIN fact is that he wasn't going to do it HERE.

Besides, if in 5 years the Rockets are NBA champions, who the F gives a damn what Eddie Griffin is doing.

KG and EG on the same team... Let's get a pool going on when the first suckerpunch occurs.

EG screwed up while he was here, but it does not change the fact that he will be a stud in this league. There have been a long list of players that have recovered from major on and off court issues only to have an impact (see his new teammate, Spree). I just hope EG got his head screwed on straight now, when he is still young and able to rebound (figuratively as well as literally) from his issues.

Were I the GM, I might have given him a workout, but definitely would have had to give serious thought to bringing him back here. He might have been truly appreciative at being given a third chance and may very well have worked hard to prove himself to JVG. We will find out soon what his work ethic is like now and I really think that he could be a powerful force playing alongside KG, Spree, and Sammy.

We may have created a monster if we find ourselves in the WC Finals with Minnesota and a pi$$ed off EG. EG has the skills to torch any of the fours on our roster, particularly if he applies himself this year.

    We will see very soon.

I'd say on the very first day, they both try to take a shot of each other at the same time. Then they both collapse like it's a Warner Brothers cartoon.

Define "stud". Pesonally I think he'll be a Joe Smith that can block a few shots from the weakside. If he can get his head on straight then he could be a decent contributor, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over the guy.

Speak only on things you know please because you are/were NOT privy to the goings on behind the scene. So shove it!

Him even getting to Joe Smith's level on the court, at this point, would be a stretch. I think that Kevin Garnett could have a good effect on Eddie in terms of leadership though.

With the proper work ethic and a chance to learn from someone who has been down the road of off court troubles (John Lucas). If EG does indeed have his head on straight and has even a decent work ethic, he will be a monster. He is still only 23 and he will be going to learn from another guy whose behavior caused him to stay out of the league for a year (Spree). If EG gets a fire lit under him by KG, we could be looking at the next Finals victors in Minnesota.

By "stud," I mean that he has the potential to be as good as Rasheed Wallace if he applies himself.

His three point percentage is fantastic for a PF who can block shots. His percentage his last year with the Rox was higher than his rookie year (.333 to .334 IIRC) and I posted a long list of people who didn't shoot as high a percentage as EG. That list included AI, Stephon, PPierce, and many other notables.

In addition, Rudy rarely used him in the post, but when he did, EG showed flashes of a good game. I remember the night against NY when he went off for 25 and most of those were in the paint.

He hurt many of us by his actions and he certainly dealt the franchise a major blow, but to say EG has no skills is ludicrous.

Who here thinks that it would be interesting as hell if Eddie Griffin did a Bio?? We have heard everyone elses view on his situation but his.. i would love to see what really happened and why he acted in such ways before I make a judgment on the man. (I kinda have a soft spot for him since he is so young).

I never said he had no skills. I was responding in you saying that he would kill our PF's. Simply not true. Mo Taylor is the better player, and he's terrible at defense. Eddie didn't show glimpses in the post, his post game was terrible. All he did was try the turn around jumper, it was pathetic. He was great on defense and coming from the weakside. But to say he'd burn the Rockets on Offense is just ludicrous
