Didn't even notice that until you pointed it out. There's a reason why players love him... Classy move. I just wish it wasn't so serious.
It's such a bummer. Oden was definitely playing fairly well. I didn't particularly care about him until he was used to some effectiveness against us in the playoffs last season, and so to see his developing career get shot down again is just ugh. Hope he recovers well but most importantly can play a few seasons without this sort of thing happening.
Yeah, that is the scary part. Brooks made no contact with his left knee. Are his bones that fragile???
There are players I wish get injured yeah, I'm not perfect but Greg Oden? I'm really sad about him getting hurt, he's such a nice guy.
His knee just kind of gave on him. Same thing happened to Mutombo, and ironically it was Oden that he "collided' with.
wtf!?!?! Haha, that was a good laugh He should try Boniva, it works for sally ride (not trying to sound classless)
If your talking about high expectations busts.. Sam Bowie was surrounded by MJ and Hakeem Olajuwon. Oden is surrounded by Kevin Durant and Al Horford. Very different. I think Darko Milicic would be a better comparison in that argument.
The Bowie comparison comes up because Sam Bowie was also drafted by Portland, and it was pretty much the exact same situation. Passed over the "sure thing" swingman to select the injury prone but promising center who filled what seemed to be a current need on the roster (old Blazers had Drexler so they thought they didn't need MJ; new Blazers had Roy so they thought they didn't need Durant). In both cases the player they passed on was clearly the better player based on the body of college work. They say lightning doesn't strike twice in the same place, but in this case, it did. And no, the Darko comparison does not work at all. Darko never had injury issues, he just sucked. Oden on the other hand was actually playing really well this year until the injury happened (top 20 in the league in PER).
Damn I feel bad for the guy. Out for the whole season? Actually i feel even worse for the portland team. They were really starting to gell and become good and now this happens to their no.1 pick. Hope he recovers soon. But I still feel that they should have taken durant. Imagine roy, durant, LA. Now that is scary. Anyway best of luck to oden on his recovery.
As much as Roy gig's us... time and time again. I do love Portland. I feel as though we are brothers to that franchise. One day Oden will get the luck he deserves. Yao too.
He planted the left foot/leg awkwardly right before he jumped to challenge AB's layup, I think that's how the injury happened. He looks uncoordinated at times with his footwork and also doesn't seem to have muscular/well defined legs. Just wondering if those contribute to his leg problems.
KJ is a class act for helping him. I don't wish serious injury on any player. I hope he recovers and is at least able to play.
My condolences to Portland and to Oden.... it's sad when talent is not able to be on the court due to injuries. For Oden, he's has to deal a lot of injuries in his young NBA career. I hope for the best for him..
no contact made here.. one of the worst injuries in NBA history.. nasty.. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Y1VLN2dlbV0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Y1VLN2dlbV0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
