Thoughts on if he will actually comeback or not? And if so, will he be any good? A team will be able to pick up dirt cheap. Could be a diamond in the rough for someone, but imo he wont pan out. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nba/1357/greg-oden "Ohio State's Deshaun Thomas said Greg Oden "looks unbelievable" as he continues his rehab and attempt to return to the NBA. We heard a lot of positive reports on Oden this year only to see him never sign with a team, but it's possible he'll look to ink a deal during the offseason. "He's running, lifting weights," Thomas said. "You might be seeing a comeback. He looks like he's ready to go. He's running, getting in shape." It doesn't sound like Oden is all the way back yet, but his story will be an intriguing one as teams search in the discount bin for size this summer"
Noooo he's too old....oh just the face... Would be nice to grab him with 1 year deal cheap, and pray he stays healthy. Would be a better solution than Greg Smith for 15 min a game, especially when facing long teams.
another article, basically the same http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-b...believable-according-one-draft-133058101.html
If we can't get Howard, offer Oden a generous one year guaranteed deal to back up Asik with a team option for further years. We saw how our defense went off a cliff when Asik comes out of the game. Plus as a bench player we can be cautious with Oden's minutes and that might appeal to him.
Most likely he'll sign with Miami for cheap to get a ring playing limited minutes. Edit: I agree with Commodore's post, but still think Oden will go for glory.
I think he'll lay low and try to play his way back. Too much limelight in Miami at this point to him, not ready for it.
...money and security is important too so guarantee 2-3 years contract should be in his mind, can't be too picky besides that.
Thought this was interesting. In the limited 21 games before his injury his avgs per 36min were. 16.7pts, 12.8reb, 3.4blk, 77%FT, 61%FG Any team im sure would love to give someone with numbers like that a chance if the price was right. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/o/odengr01.html
He's only 25. He was playing well and showed flashes of being able to dominate before he went down with his last injury. Someone is going to gamble and roll the dice. Potential low risk very high reward opportunity here.
