Great post. That writer should have taken a look at some of these comparisons. Both are going to be great players IMO and I think it all depends on what type of player you need. IMHO, these numbers are the ones that actually speak volume: 26ppg 11rpg 2spg 2bpg 47%FG 40%3-PT
Who cares about his strength. You could look at him and see why he can't bench. He should stay slim. No need for him to bulk up. Bulking up only leads to injuries (Kobe, B. Diddy, Okafor, T-Mac) He's gonna be a SF anyway, no need for a team to be stupid and throw him in at PF just cause he's 6'10". Probably even better for him, as he'll learn to depend on his skill rather than pure physical ability. Besides, what speaks more volumes??? His bench pressing or his stats on the court.
I don't think strength is necessarily a big issue either. But being slim and weak also leads to injury. Horry early on (tendinitis), S. Livingston (knee), Sampson, Muresean, etc...
I wouldnt worry about his strength just yet. When Tracy Mcgrady came into the league he couldnt even bench 150lbs.
that may be true, but durant also did not do that well in the speed, vertical, and agility drills. i still think durant should be the number 2 pick though.
If people gonna be so scared because of a bunch of stupid results then let him drop to 26 and we'll pick him up.
Avery Johnosn was one of the very best bench pressers in NBA history - not just pound for pound, but on an absolute basis. How meaningful is this stat? It's a great stat for guys who have short arms, but since this is the NBA and not a powerlifting club I'm taking the weaker guy with the long arms over Kevin Willis more often than not. Combine numbers are next to useless in basketball. Plenty of people can run and jump - look at the And-1 tour. Playing in the NBA is a different story. If you don't pick Durant #1 or 2 you should lose your job.
http://www.sigdomain.com/draftexpress_2.mp3 Portland rumored to have turned down the No.1 pick for Melo deal.
Yea, I think Durant may be really good, but he isnt Tmac. Tmac has all the tools to be best player in the NBA. It is just unfortunate that he doesnt have the mindset.
The Kevin Willis comp is spot on -> that guy had a massive upper body. Give me a lean and mean Durant over him any day.
LMFAO, of course they did. If I am portland, I wouldn't trade Oden for Denver's entire roster, or any combination of players on that roster.
you guys all forgetting the most important thing of all, that goes beyond stats: Kevin durant has played basketball with Vince Young dammit look at what you UT folks are doing to me, I love VY after what he did to the trojans 2 years ago, but yeah erg he is damn good
