Well, it was a stupid comment but it was in the middle of an extremely stupid segment as well. Nothing good comes of getting that cute and "clever" with a run-of-the-mill keys to the game segment. So I don't think that comment in particular stood out.
Our D is pathetic, however, nobody can stop us either, except for the clips who give us fits. Doc Rivers is a good defensive coach with talent. The Heat had open look after open look and just missed. Especially Battier and Bosh!!!
I would disagree. Our defense needs work but it definitely isn't pathetic. Don't forget we're top 10 in defensive efficiency. When you play at the pace that we do there are more possessions and thus scores and other things tend to run higher for both teams. There are times when we slack on defense there's no doubt about that. But pathetic is definitely a reach.
I'm far from overly PC or sensitive, but it IS sexist. It wasn't a huge deal to me, since what a sportscaster says has no impact on my life, but "don't play like the Rockettes" is the same as "don't play like women," correct?
The Rockets defense is average to above average. Their offense is elite. As long as our offensse is elite and our defense can be slightly above average we have a chance at a ring this season and the next 3-4 seasons
Yeah, it was a stupid segment. In general, I think most of the NBA commentary is a waste of time (Barkley, Shaq, etc.).
Greg Anthony's attempt to insult the Rockets is to take their name and feminize it, which obviously implies that he believes feminizing something makes it inferior and weaker. How is this not sexist? Please explain your logic here.
Yup. He has the IQ of a watermelon underneath all that passive aggressive hate, so its impossible to hate on him.
Guys in the media for some reason are looking at the first two months of the season. It is what the team is doing this past month that should give them a true indicator of what the team D is doing. The D is improving and it should be much better come the playoffs. The TOs on the other hand needs to get cleaned up to at the most 11 TOs per game would do wonders for the team.
Unlike defamation, truth isn't a defense to sexism. So, if you were to say that blacks are naturally better athletes, that is "racist" (but seemingly true). As an aside, I agree that technically-racist (but truthful) comments shouldn't be avoid for political correctness, but Anthony was in essence taking a cheap shot. Maybe it's more accurate to simply say that the comments were in poor-taste, and Anthony sucks at a commentator. He could simply say that the Rockets need to play intelligently, as a team, and not turn the ball over as much as they have a tendency to do. He went with a stupid, silly "Rockettes" thing, that didn't even make much sense.
The Rockets overall defense has been bad, except for spots. To be a good defensive team, you cannot have weak link(s) on your lineup, otherwise the good teams will pick you apart, especially comes playoff time. The Rockets has a great defender in Howard, good defender in Bev, and the rest of them are below average individually, and worse as a team.
He's still sore from when our Houston Rockets beat his New York Knicks team in the Finals... Get over it.
