I was thinking exactly the same thing yesterday.

However, reading this article and listening to Morey it seems that even if Boston and Minny saw potential in him, they couldn't hold on to him.

Boston needed to get Kevin Garnett to win now. That's why they let him go.

Minny knew that Gerald had no interest in resigning with the Timberwolves, so instead of letting him go for nothing they got Snyder and a second round pick for him.

I hate comparisons of rookies to established stars. They compare Green to Tmac. I don't agree with that comparison.

However, their path has been eerily similar. They both saw a limited role in the first couple of years. What they do have in common is that they both hated the cold. Tmac wanted out of Toronto and Green wanted out of freezing cold Minneapolis. They both wanted to go home, Tmac to Orlando and Gerald to Houston. Hopefully, Gerald can follow Tmac's steps and elevate his dedication and commitment to the game. Tmac really worked hard his last year in Toronto and with the Magic.

Sometimes, when a plant isn't doing to well in it's current location, you move it and also maybe change the soil makeup ... sometimes it's like night and day... we'll see.

He is restricted, right? So I think that will be a foregone conclusion.

Minny could have picked up Green's option if they really wanted to keep him. End of story.

I am willing to be convinced. The kid is a phenomenal athlete. But I don't think he has any idea how to be a pro and does not really understand basketball. Throwing down a dunk or shooting from the 3 point line does not mean you know how to play basketball. When you are so much more physically gifted than everybody else on the basketball court, this doesn't show up. But when you step out on the court with a whole bunch of other players that are physically gifted and some of them are much bigger or much quicker than you are, then you gotta start learning how to really play the game. In my opinion, Gerald Green is clueless about how to play the game. Of course, he may develop and learn. But I would say he's gonna have to ride the pine for some NBA team for another couple years to let that happen.

Gerald Green is a perfect example of a player that would have been better served to go to college and let his basketball mind grow into his basketball body............that is unless he doesn't have a mind............which, if that be the case, might as well get a few mill before you exit stage left.

Be honest, how much of Gerald Green have you seen? I'm talking full games and not just highlights. Lots of people are writing Green off and they've never even seen him really play. You make those statements like you've follow his career.

Best thing that Green could do to show that he wants to learn and to stay with the Rox is to get summer tutorials from Battier.

Apparently Green has a game that, if developed, is more like Tracy's; but I would hesitate to recommend that Green study under McG:

"And when you're tired, or you're just sick of carrying a bunch of chumps, just drop the ball and reach down and grab your ankle. You don't even have to sell it. Just hold your ankle. You'll get three, four games off, EASY."

    (borrowing now from The Simpsons)

"Gosh, Mr Mac, you sure are learned." (pronounced LURN-ed)

(laughs condescendingly) "It's 'learned' (LURND), boy."

Hey Guys new to the board here,

I just wanted put in my two cents on this topic. While I am unsure about the Bonzi trade for the team's current state I like how it pans out as far as the summer dealings come along with good quality free agents being available.

As far as Green goes, I like the trade for the fact that we gave up pretty much nothing for him. Snyder wasn't cracking the lineup, so why not right? The thing about Green is his potential to become something great. What I'm hoping to see happen is for him to mature and work hard on his game as Morey and Mchale say that they've seen. I see him possibly becoming the Rockets' version of a Josh Howard except without the douche-like qualities. And if he gets to that level or even better, The Rockets have an amazingly bright future ahead. The big thing about Green though is "if."

There are 4 under the cap teams. CHA, MEM, ATL and ORL. Most of them already have well-known starting PF's. MEM has Warrick. All (excluding ATL which owes PHX) have the opportunity get a PF in the Lottery. IMHO, you're overvaluing Landry and overstating the severity of losing him.

Can the Rockets use their MLE to re-sign him?

I'll be surprised if Green plays any more than Snyder did for us this year.

It is way to early to make any comparison with GG!

I just hope he proves as 1/2 as Bonzi Wells, by that he can improve better with significiant minutes on floor.

    Good luck, Gerald, welcome home...

If you look back to when he played in Boston he showed great potential his rookie season. He averaged 10points his 2nd yr with a Paul Pierce and a budding Al Jefferson. He did quite well given ample time and his teammates seemed to had loved him based on Paul Pierce and River's comments once he was traded.

As far as Twolves go. They have Al Jefferson a post player they plan on making their cornerstone plus a recent HIGH draft pick in Brewer who is a SG. Couple that with the last to HIGH draft picks in Foye and McCants and its hard to break even on that team b/c they favored the guys they already had. When he got chances to play minutes this year he had good games.

Put up side by side stats of him and TMAC and you cant help but compare. Tmac's raptors coach didnt even respect him and said he would be a bust.

6'6" and possibly the best athlete in the league. Was compared to Tracy McGrady coming out of high school and he is with his 4th team in 3 years and still can't any time on the court. Bust is probably a strong word but "project" is far to generous.

Good points. Hey, I hope the guy turns into a young Jason Richardson. I'll admit he is less of gamble than Stromile was for sure.

Only negative thing I see out of this thread is how Gerald Green is going to nickname himself after T-Mac.

After all, G-Gee does sound abit..... feminine... right? :D
