His ceiling isn’t THAT high because he’s not a creator but he can be an elite role player that every team would live to have
If that is the case his ceiling is FVV. Sheppard would be similar, but with better passing and less defense.
Neither should - both will get the Max in RFA - someone will overpay to try to steal either of them, which is the Rox dilemma do you let it run to that or trade the one you don't necessarily want to give the max too, or if they both deserve it you are willing to pay. DD
If this is true, a whole lot of guys will be waiting until after the season to either re-sign or become RFAs.
If Jalen becomes more consistent they will max both of them. There is no doubt in my mind. They want desperately for Jalen to succeed, When right he is one of the best SG’s in the league. He just hasn’t been right for about 70% of the games he has played. I’m more and more optimistic that he has turned the corner. It still is kind of scary, though. If he gets his bag will he still have the motivation to get better?
Suggs is an interesting situation. I don’t think he’s worth 30 mil a year, but he’s so important to their team they just might give him it.
The problem is we can't extend him after Monday - until the next summer and he will be a RFA and able to take bids from everyone. DD
The main fear I have with rfa with Green is a team like the Wizards are going to throw ridiculous money at him.
Summer '25 So-called stars: free agency Player.......age at time........status LeBron............40.8...............P.O. Kyrie................33.5..............P.O. Middleton....... 34.......….......P.O. Julius Randle...30,8.............P.O. Jimmy Butler....36.1............P.O. Brandon Ingram I'm not feeling any of the stars due to ages above 30......with robust salary Could we trade for?....( not free agents/under contract) : Durant Giannis Booker I prefer Jerami Grant (now or at trade deadline) Jerami Grant/Thybulle x Jabari/Dillon Brooks/Jock Landale (works on fanspro trade machine) ------------- Free agent targets to look at: summer '25....in case Rockets don't trade player Player..............age at time.............status Myles Turner............29.5 ..................UFA Aaron Gordon..........30.1..................P.O. John Collins............28.0..................P.O. Bobby Portis...........30.7...................P.O. Alex Caruso.............31.6.................UFA Malik Beasley...........28.8................UFA Tyus Jones...............29.4................UFA Giving Sengun and Jalen Green extensions after additions. Rockets are better off keeping their own home (team) grown stars. Are they perfect? No. Green will need to make mild strides in defense and 3P% while Sengun needs to shot and make some 3's. Is Cade Cunningham perfect? No, had a bad year last season Is Scottie Barnes perfect? No, except for rookie year has been bland since.
I wouldn't pay either one at this point. Sengun doesn't score at all three levels, nor does he rebound or blk shots at a high clip, which I think is key for a center in the NBA. I want to see him shoot more 3's and rebound better. I need 10+ Rebs ppg and at least 2 blks ppg. Jalen has been too inconsistent up to this point. I need to see consistency during the regular season. I think we have 4 players on this team with STAR POTENTIAL; Alpi, Jalen, Amen and Cam but they haven't reached that level as of yet.
For the record - a max in RFA from another team is not the same as a max from the team which holds a players rights. The RFA team can offer the 25% max plus 5% raises. (This is what is matched) The team holding the players rights can offer 25% plus 8% raises. Year 1 is projected to be $37,750,000 ($151m cap) and the same for both teams. Year two for the RFA offering team is - $39,637,500 Year two for the team holding the players rights is - $40,770,000 With the gap growing by 3% of the previous years' salary for every year beyond. Might not seem like much but it adds up over the course of that 4 or 5 year deal.
