OOPPSS.....I was sort of amazed by Spain's and bitterly disappointed by Greece's preformance that I used the wrong word. YUP, it is awesome.

Now mid 3Q. Greece is still 20 points behind.... With that kind of fierce and water-tight defense, and fighting spirit of Spain, I don't see how Greece can come back from such big a hole they dug out for themselves. The Greeks seemed to have completely lost that shooting touch....missed alot of their open looks, and kept out-rebounded by the Spaniards.....

Sounds like Greece totally expended their spirit vs. the USA.

    Game over.

    Spain 70, Greece 47

That was ugly. Vspan was 1-10, 2-2FT, 2RB,2AST,3 fouls in 32 minutes. He played more minutes than any other greek player.

So despite ranking top in scoring, 3rd in block shots and 5 in rebounds, Yao Ming got squeezed out of the Best Centre of the World Championship First Team All Stars..... :(

Pau Gasol edged him out on the First Team and was voted MVP of the tournament, despite missing out the Final.

i fell back asleep at halftime and when i awoke again all i know is i had a dream that I was a detective investigating a greek fan who was pissed off about greece losing and as i was leaving he came outside of his house and around the car with a gun I then lunged at him to get the gun away from him and he shot me in the right side but i got a hold of him and the gun and shot back at him but there were no more bullets so I proceeded to beat his face in with the handle of the gun and then I couldn't get an ambulance to me cause i didn't know where the hell I was so I just sat there losing blood but thankfully I woke up in time before I lost my life in my sleep.

Just opened this thread. Somebody tell me what happened (to Greece and V-Span). This doesn't make any sense. I can understand a letdown but this looks like a failure to show up. Was Spain super-inspired and played in a different dimension or was Greece extremely lethargic? How could this happen in the championship game?

Greece got outplayed by a motivated Spain.

The USA should look at how Spain defended the Pick and Roll.

I still can't believe the US never used a zone...just mind boggling.

Back to square one. We know nothing!

I general I thought the worst thing about not getting James was that we didn't have another player who could create his own shot in case McGrady was out of commission, or on the bench. With all of the excitement about Vspan against the USA, the possibility of him being more than a secondary role player started to look possible.

Maybe he'll be a reliable part of the offense, maybe not. Maybe he'll be a streaky shooter who scores 25 on one night, and 3 the next. Maybe he'll be clutch, maybe he is a choker.

Watching V-Span fire a long range jumper is like watching a dunker hangs in the air at the highest point then suddenly decided to shooter a jumper.

Spain played tight defense to start the game. They forced Greece to turn the ball over and not be able to get in a rhythm offensively. The greek bigs responded poorly to double teams and were a non-factor. On top this, Spain was hot from 3 range. One guy, dont remember his name but is going to the Raptors this coming season, hit 6 3s I think. The game was lopsided from the start.
