The mosquitos they had in West Africa when I was there are probably worse. We had to sleep under mosquito nets INDOORS! The perfect mosquito climate of year round high temperatures with large amounts of rain.
After a week of rain when there is no wind, the mosquitos on the west end... forget about it...you can't sit still underneath your place...pints of blood will be sucked out in a matter of seconds. I usually just give up and say 'you are the rulers of this land, feast on thy blood, you savage bastards!' It's almost like an alfred hitchock movie about the birds but the mosquitos theres more of them and they are much more methodical in sucking the life out of you.
One of my favorite subjects, as well as history. I'm lucky enough to have traveled around the world, which really helped to make both subjects come alive. It's always a mystery to me when I read about people who hate both. After all, it's about the world and what has happened in it. What, besides sex, could be more interesting than that?
DEAR GOD what is wrong with those Greeks. someone stop those bastards before they come to Houston!! i already have 8 mosquito bites on my legs alone..
I'm not worried because mosquitos don't bite me and even if they do, I never even can tell there is bite mark. I seem to repel the little blood suckers.
Greece is dry and rocky. Athens is a little bit more humid, but yeah the comparison to So Cal was close, they just don't have desert, and its not that dry.
Speaking of Gulf Coast Mosquitos: I remember a particular fishing trip off the rocks in Galveston. We were attacked by mosquitos so big you could see zebra stripes on them. They would bite you any place they landed including through the thick blue jean material I was wearing. You were completely at their mercy if no breeze was blowing. Also, I think they are attracted by the smell of mosquito repelant.
How juvenile.. but yeah I expected that by the third page So no man is an island, but lesbos are? Hmm
And people here get on my case about living in Dallas. I haven't had a single mosquito bite at all so far this year...
Greece has a rainy season and a dry season. From late fall to early spring it rains almost every day and during the rest of the year it rarely if ever rains, let alone has any clouds. So, during the summer it is very dry and almost never rains.
