does anyone remember Joust? Where you rode a flying ostrich and tried to knock other guys off their flying ostrich? How about that football game that was just X's and O's and you moved the guys with a roller ball? I loved those games.
but do you play that game over and over? Street Fighter 2 on xbox360 arcade will rule! that game never gets old.
doom was the first game where I knew EVERYBODY got it. not everyone has the same console, but everyone had a PC.
Joust, Final Fantasy 1, Contra 1, Tecmo Super Bowl Find games you're still willing to play religiously on an outdated-as-hell system, those are the incredible ones..
Pac Man was the first game where I knew EVERYBODY got it. I still remember the day it was released in the stores for Atari.
DOOM came out on shareware. everyone waited hours on their 14.4 modems to download it. i was in college and all i heard in the dorms were the DOOM NOISES. this went on for months and months.
Its almost impossible to call out the greatest video game, I mean there're tons of awesome game and you have to consider the different era. To say Mike Tyson's Puch Out(ex.) is the greatest game ever while leaving out Metal Gear Solid(ex.) just sounds dumb b/c one is 2d and the other is 3d.
same story for me, except i was in 6th grade.... but instead of playing outside like we usually would, all the kids were in their houses playing doom.
I guess I shouldn't say this in a thread full of game geeks but I think video games are one of the worst things that ever happen to American youth and is a prime cause of childhood obesity.
nah. we allow it in our house in moderation. my son and i have a great time together playing video games. we also have a great time playing baseball in the back yard. but on rainy days, we hit the playroom and try to beat the crap out of each other in madden!
Thats the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Haven't you learn? Fast food is the reason for the child's obesity as well as adults.
Maybe with all the suggestions we could have a "best video game" tournament like the ones that run here occasionally for musical artists and movies...
