Better watch out Manny. I hated the Carpenters with a passion; and then a few years back a friend of mine was playing a greatest hits cd and I was really ragging her and then after I quit laughing I noticed I was kinda tapping my toe to one of the songs and asked her if I could borrow the cd just to tape that one song. Damned if I didn't end up liking the whole thing - even the old hits I used to hate so much. You could be next my friend.
Damn...those are some good picks, dude. I am listening to Ferry right now (last Roxy Music album, "Avalon").
Right on Manny.I have a lot of great memories tied to Avalon. It definitely stands alone for me...."Boys and Girls",and much of his solo stuff flows, but Avalon,I can just pop on,and let the nostalgia/good times wash over me.Man,that is lovemakin music if ever I heard it.What a crooner. Kind of funny, but it's served me through 3 long relationships....and each woman thought it was "our album".I've just rolled w/it.

He's Good and Terrible. My picks would be: Elvis Costello, Al Green, Richard Manuel(The Band), Linda Ronstadt, Selena and Rickie Lee Jones.
A lot of my choices would have been mentioned, so some of them will be mentioned again. Sam Cooke Smokey Robinson Bryan Ferry Tom Waites The singer from the Shins is amazing And the singer from Aha. Aha as a band is kind of a joke, but the range of that guys voice in 'Take On Me' is pretty amazing.
