There's nothing wrong with getting your eyes gouged out with rusty needles, either....but I imagine it is pretty painful.
Yea, you're right. I much rather hate on them because it is "cool" instead of the fact that they play incredibly vapid, boring, generic rock that they copped from one of your "list of talentless artists" in Pearl Jam and also throw in that they probably had the most self-absorbed and grandstanding frontman that popular music has ever seen in its history.
As far as hip hop/rap goes, it's hard to argue with Island Def Jam Music Group Beastie Boys DMX Jay Z LL Cool J Ludacris Method Man Redman Public Enemy The Roots Warren G Kanye West
Touch and Go Rough Trade Trance Latino Buggerveil Sub Pop Blue Note French Kiss Factory 4AD Beggars Banquet Ninja Tune Matador Fart Blossom Enterprises Perverted Son etc...
there are definitely some great labels in the list but how in the hell is Motown and Def Jam left off? Motown helped create a revolutionary sound as did Def Jam. Death Row made A LOT of money over short period of time, but there would be no death row without def jam knocking down the doors for the hip hop industry. Def Jam is definitely watered down now but back when they started, they helped get hip hop from the streets onto records. Motown had some of the best artists in the history of music. Marvin, Temptations, Jackson 5, Supremes, The Four Tops, Smokey Robinson, Michael Jackson, etc.
Wow, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, THE SHINS and Modest Mouse are pure crap. Man, man...I won't say anything, but MAN...
