    Yea, you're right. I much rather hate on them because it is "cool" instead of the fact that they play incredibly vapid, boring, generic rock that they copped from one of your "list of talentless artists" in Pearl Jam and also throw in that they probably had the most self-absorbed and grandstanding frontman that popular music has ever seen in its history.

    Sub Pop did also have some good ROCK bands like SUPERSUCKERS and THE YO-YO's.

    there are definitely some great labels in the list but how in the hell is Motown and Def Jam left off?

    Motown helped create a revolutionary sound as did Def Jam.

    Death Row made A LOT of money over short period of time, but there would be no death row without def jam knocking down the doors for the hip hop industry. Def Jam is definitely watered down now but back when they started, they helped get hip hop from the streets onto records.

    Motown had some of the best artists in the history of music. Marvin, Temptations, Jackson 5, Supremes, The Four Tops, Smokey Robinson, Michael Jackson, etc.
