No love for George McGinnis? He won two more championships than Reggie. # Member of the 1972 and 1973 Indiana Pacers ABA championship teams. # Second Team All-ABA selection in 1973. # Three ABA All-Star selections (1973-1975). # Three All-ABA First Team selections (1974-1976). # Selected as ABA Co-MVP, with Julius Erving in 1975. # Won the ABA scoring title in 1975.
I wasn't really considering ABA. If you want to include that, then I think Erving would have to be the greatest Net as well.
Also, in terms of longevity and fan appeal, you could make a good argument for Sidney Moncrief being the Bucks representative on this list.
I might put Nash above Barkley for the Suns, but other than that it's hard to argue these (and even the Barkley/Nash is pretty even). Interesting post.
actually barkley probably belongs with the sixers, you could also argue that dolph schayes, obviously never saw this guy play, but my dad remembers him and he has some great stats as well and lastly, even though it was only four years, Mo Malone has philly case.
You skipped a whole mess of franchises! Anderson Packers (1949-1950) Baltimore Bullets (1947-1955) Chicago Stags (1946-1950) Cleveland Rebels (1946-1947) Denver Nuggets (1949-1950) Detroit Falcons (1946-47) Indianapolis Jets (1948-1949) Indianapolis Olympians (1949-1953) Pittsburgh Ironmen (1946-1947) Providence Steamrollers (1946-1949) Sheboygan Redskins (1949-1950) St. Louis Bombers (1946-1950) Toronto Huskies (1946-1947) Washington Capitols (1946-1951) Waterloo Hawks (1949-1950) Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_defunct_National_Basketball_Association_teams"
For that matter, Wilt also has a case for the Sixers, even though he was only there for 3 or 4 seasons. I think he won 3 straight MVPs with them, and he had that 67-win season.
It's not a bad pick, but if you're restricting it to only his time as a Laker I'd say Magic has the upper hand.
Poor Charlotte. They shouldn't even be on the list. Next list should be the all time goon/thug for each team. Hawks ?????? Celtics M.L. Carr Hornets Anthony Mason??? Bulls Rodman?/Oakley Cavaliers Mvericks Nuggets Pistons Laimbeer Warriors Wilt Chamberlain Rockets Larry Smith or Vernon? Pacers Artest? Clippers Lakers Kermit Heat Bucks Timberwolves Nets Knicks Oakley? Magic 76ers Suns Trail Blazers Maurice Lucas Kings Spurs SuperSonics Fortson? Jazz Karl Malone Wizards Raptors Grizzlies Bobcats
Bob Pettit over Dominque Wilkins, Pettit did make it to the championship a couple of times with St. Louis Hawks......but I don't see him as better player than the Human Highlight. He does have the knock against him for not going deep into basketball......but remember this is one of toughest eras in Eastern Conference with the likes of the Celtics, 76ers, Pistons, Knicks, Cavs, Bucks, and Bulls. Paul is a great pg and might be an all-time great someday, but is he really that much better than Alonzo Mourning (who was in his prime in Charlotte) and Grandma Ma.
If we're talking as of right now, today - and not considering future potential... then I'd make these changes: Mavs - Rolando Blackman Hornets - Alonzo Mourning (yeah - only 3 years) Nets - Dr. J Lakers - Kareem
