These threads always make me want to mention something from way back:

"Hatari" - John Wayne movie set in Africa.

Way more recent: "Last of the Mohicans"

Yes, thank you and Pole for mentioning this. Easily one of my best 100 albums of all time.

I also want to mention the musical scores to:

    "Vertigo"
    "Marnie"
    "Barry Lyndon"
    "The Shining"
    "2001: A Space Odyssey"
    "A Clockwork Orange"

Those movies, especially "The Shining", are not the same without those great scores of theirs.

Ooh - I just remembered another one:

"1492: Conquest of Paradise" by Vangelis but you can also mention "Blade Runner" and "Chariots of Fire". Hell, Vangelis may deserve his own thread for this!

Also, wasn't Peter Gabriel's "Passion" from a movie?

I know a lot of you guys might not have necessesarily liked these movies, but Whitney and others did the damn thing on "Waiting to Exhale" and "The Bodyguard."

My favorite scores would probably be "The Land Before Time," "Schlinder's List," "Rudy," and "Glory." I also like the score on "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story," but you hear that one almost everywhere nowadays. Same with "Roll Tide."

I look at it a little differently. I've never considered compilations of songs that were already hits to be true "soundtracks"...they are just that - a compilation of songs originally written for another purpose.

For me, the soundtrack from "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" is right up there.

    my top 5

    1. requiem for a dream
    2. vanilla sky
    3. clockwork orange
    4. royal tenenbaum's
    5. magnolia

the scores/soundtracks really enhanced the movie for me. not so much the individual great songs but the mood and tempo placed along with an appropiate scence. great movies, great soundtracks.

I'm sure I deserve it, but it never ceases to amaze me how many ignore lists I must be on.

"Say Anything" soundtrack was pretty damn decent.
"Lost Boy's" was a great soundtrack.

And I can't believe nobody has put down my favorite movie soundtrack of all time; (I've had to replace it 5 times!)

    "Heavy Metal"-Best Soundtrack Ever.
