I uploaded and posted a Maxwell clip in this thread. Obviously he's looked up to as a favorite player and important piece in the Rockets championship. And had many many GREAT moments in Rockets history and Vernon Maxwell history. You're not sweeping Maxwell's less than positive exploits under the rug, that's good. Even admit that he's a Bad Boy. Just because someone is a bad boy doesn't mean they've made a title for themselves that frees them from the "norm" of whats accepted as "good" around them, from criticims and hatred. Bay boys are not an exception. Bad boys dare people around and INCITE a bit of hatred, and bring it upon themselves. Then those same bad boys claim everyone to be "haters", whatever that means. Its a total contradiction. Its an endless fight to the very violent end against society - bad boy does something unpleasant, people around him sound off on it, they're "haters" for disrespecting and now they gotta come to blows. If Maxwell was daring, tough, and free to not do the "Nice Boy" stuff, incite other's hostility and create negativity around him, surely he should be open to the criticisms that follow it and not call people "haters" that have an opinion on what he's done...(And don't get me started on the "loyalty" versus "pride" thing... ) His personal life is his business anyways. He did all he needed for me (except the leaving the team part) as a basketball player - play hard, play to win, act like you care about what you're doing. Its all you can ask for from an athlete and he did that and then some.
The haters find an excuse to hate to people. that's what Maxwell's personal life comes in. Cause they can't hate Maxwell's legendary performances with the Rockets. do the haters really care about Maxwell's kids or Maxwell's mistresses that he slapped? or do the haters really care about that Portland fan? Nope. They just care about hating. that's why they should all move to an island called Hater's Island and they should live their like Gilligan's Island and have some of the people that they hate pass by in boats. I would love all the Max haters on their on that island and Max float by on his Yacht (SS MAD MAX) and just drop F Bombs on all them all day. And when the haters think that Max came ashore to save them, he runs away with their girlfriends Mary Ann and Ginger. Max then sails away dropping more F bombs on the haters. HAHAHA!
Do the Ron Artest haters! <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9WN2sknEXns"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9WN2sknEXns" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
LOL, that little guy Artest went after is what I would picture the tinman looking like. Hey Tinman, OJ Simpson was an incredable college and pro football player (much better at his sport than Max) why don't you start a "Greatest moments in the juice's career" thread in the hangout?
First off, I did give and continue to give Max the props he deserves for '94 and before. He was clutch, he was tough as nails, and was a great player without whom we would not have won the first championship. The problem I have with Maxwell is the unbelievable lack of professionalism he showed in 1995. Luckily, our team showed that they were even resilient enough to win without a spoiled rotten prima donna who didn't do squat after his character defining moment in 1995. Karma is a b!tch. Next, a definition... Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1) ju·ry1 /ˈdʒʊri/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[joor-ee] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation noun, plural -ries., verb, -ried, -ry·ing. –noun 1. a group of persons sworn to render a verdict or true answer on a question or questions officially submitted to them. A jury, by definition, is a "group" of people. I would be more than happy to take my case to a jury of my peers on this BBS, but you alone do not make up a jury and as such, my "guilt" is not ascertained. I would submit that I am not a Maxwell "hater," but someone who has the ability to see reality.
My dislike for Maxwell stems entirely from his unprofessional decision to sit at home rather than fulfil his contract by playing with the team.
dislike=hate obviously we aren't all angry at max like you. even Rudy T and Kermit Washington made up. I guess some people keep anger with them forever. cant even enjoy a thread of some the GREATEST ROCKET MOMMENTS ... EVER!!
Again, a definition... Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1) hate /heɪt/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[heyt] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation verb, hat·ed, hat·ing, noun –verb (used with object) 1. to dislike intensely or passionately; feel extreme aversion for or extreme hostility toward; detest: to hate the enemy; to hate bigotry. While I admit that I dislike what Max did in '95, equating that to hate is simply not accurate. I do not "intensely or passionately" dislike Max, I just think that his character defining moment was in 1995 when he refused to fulfill his contract, left his teammates high and dry, and reaped the karmic rewards. Presumably, Kermit and Rudy made up following an apology from Washington. Max has never offered such an apology to his teammates at the time (at least not a public one), nor to the fans that he let down in 1995. Were he to offer such an apology and maybe go so far as to give up his 1995 ring, perhaps to be displayed in the Toyota Center for the fans he let down, I would be able to "forgive and forget." In the absence of such an apology to the people he let down, he will forever remain a spoiled rotten punk b!tch who tried to leave his teammates in a lurch. Thankfully, the basketball gods definitively proved that we didn't need that punk to win in '95.
he got the ring. I got a question for you haters: was this a shock to you? this was "MAD" Max not "GHANDI" Max I know you guys selectively forget that HAKEEM wasn't happy either in his tenure with the Rockets. Remember? oh not Dream, he's a man of peace. That's why he demanded a trade. That's why he said "im outa here" at whole foods. Max was the starting 2 guard for the Rockets for 5 years, and then he suddenly loses his job midseason to a Portland Trailblazer. Max felt the Rockets disrepected him. Yeah, Clyde is a HOF player, but so is Michael Jordan, who Max doesn't like either. Does anyone remember that Clyde and Barkley didn't get along. Of course you haters don't!! you have SELECTIVE MEMORIES and you guys HATE! Thats what you do. Guess what? Im glad you guys exist. There's always evil to bring out the good in people. Look how many votes and love Maxwell is getting! hahaha I've SUCKERED YOU HATERS! I've used your HATE to bring out LOVE AND PRIDE!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Why you gotta hate on Joel? Are you a communist? Does Osteen not have a right to make money? Hater in the House!

He was Mad Max when he was playing well for us and he had my respect and admiration for all but three months of his tenure as a Rocket. And even while he was "demand[ing] a trade" and saying "I'm outa here," he was a true professional and played his heart out for the Rockets. He never quit on his team during the regular season, much less right before a playoff run. He got paid millions of dollars to be a professional basketball player. Trades are a large part of professional sports and professionals deal with them whether they are the ones being traded or are the ones demoted when a better player is acquired. Clyde became a Rocket on Feb. 14, 1995 and was no longer a Trailblazer. Max lost his job to a better player and then quit on his team. Who cares if he felt disrespected? A true professional acts like a man, does his job, and continues to put it all out on the court. And yet neither one of them quit on the team. They disliked each other and were still able to go out on the court every night and put those differences aside for the good of the team. They were both true professionals and they acted like it. Max did not. Talk about selective memory. In your "defend Max no matter what" mania, you have lost sight of the fact that Max quit on his team and in doing so, flushed the respect he earned for five years down the toilet. He could have been an integral part of the second championship, but chose to b!tch, whine, and moan at the loss of his starting job rather than acting like a professional. The votes are for the "Greatest Moments in Mad Max history" and as such, I even voted (for the NY "nail in the coffin" shot). I suspect that if you had an option for "It doesn't matter because he lost my respect when he quit on the team," you would be singing a different tune. Wow. Your delusions have reached the level usually reserved for t_j's inane rantings about Bush.
what delusions? that you guys are hating on Max? that's just the truth. I'm here to fight your evil thoughts with thoughts of good. You are the dark side, I'm the good side of the force. An eternal battle that rages on forever in space and time. Who cares about TJ and his rants? This is more important.THIS IS ABOUT THE HOUSTON ROCKETS.I'm obviously a MUCH BETTER and more entertaining poster than that joker. There's a place in your heart And I know that it is love And this place could be much Brighter than tomorrow And if you really try You'll find there's no need to cry In this place you'll feel There's no hurt or sorrow There are ways to get there If you care enough for the living Make a little space Make a better place Heal the world Make it a better place For you and for me And the entire human race There are people dying If you care enough for the living Make a better place For you and for me If you want to know why There's a love that cannot lie Love is strong It only cares of joyful giving If we try we shall see In this bliss we cannot feel, fear or dread We stop existing and start living Then it feels that always Love's enough for us growing Make a better world Make a better world Heal the world Make it a better place For you and for me And the entire human race There are people dying If you care enough for the living Make a better place For you and for me And the dream we were conceived in Will reveal a joyful face And the world we once believed in Will shine again in grace Then why do we keep strangling life Wound this earth, crucify its soul Though it's plain to see This world is heavenly Be God's glow We could fly so high Let our spirits never die In my heart I feel you are all my brothers Create a world with no fear Together we'll cry happy tears See the nations Turn their swords into plowshares We could really get there If you cared enough for the living Make a little space To make a better place Heal the world Make it a better place For you and for me And the entire human race There are people dying If you care enough for the living Make a better place For you and for me Heal the world Make it a better place (Oh, my friends) For you and for me And the entire human race There are people dying If you care enough for the living Make a better place For you and for me You and for me You and for me Heal the world we live in Save it for our children
Why do you hate on fellow clutchfans here on the BBS just because they have a different opinon or view point than you? Last time I checked pointing out facts about someone is not "hating" Calling out others who don't subscribe to your line of thinking is "hating" HATER!!!
i love how you like to tell people what kind of thread this is yet when someone posts a Reggie Bush thread, what's the first post you put in it? oh yea, Vince Young. hey Tinman, IT'S A REGGIE BUSH thread!
