no. there was about 1.3 seconds on the clock when the rockets were throwing the in-bounds pass. the shot max made was a buzzer-beater. i've seen it on highlights since.

IIRC, no other Rocket remembered hearing that, which is why nobody on the team spoke in his defense. Max probably made that up, IMO.

No doubt he made it up....everyone in the stands confirmed that the guy said NOTHING of the sort.

I guess there are no such things as Hecklers in the NBA who yell obscene stuff.

My only problem with the incident is that we didnt get to see him clocking the dude like the Detroit Melee.

    MAXWELL > ANY OF YOU
    [IMG]

believe the children are our are future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the childrens laughter remind us how we used to be
    Everybody searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone to fulfill my needs
    A lonely place to be
So I learned to depend on me

    Chorus:
I decided long ago, never to walk in anyones shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They cant take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all
    Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
    Inside of me
    The greatest love of all
    Is easy to achieve
    Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the childrens laughter remind us how we used to be

    Chorus

And if by chance, that special place
    That youve been dreaming of
Leads you to a lonely place
    Find your strength in love

Madmax gave the Houston the name Clutch City with his game against Phoenix. And despite his off-the-court problems, Madmax gave every thing he had when he played for the Rockets....aka playing with a broken writst in the playoff series against the Clippers.

Oh hell yeah that was an amazing shot! Totally forgot about that one.
I practiced trying to do that shot on the court afterward :)

    Thanks Portugal

(That was also around the time Horry kinda suprisingly started showing he had 3-point shooting in this game. Hardly took any his rookie year, then outta nowhere started shooting and sinking em late in games. The beginning of Big Shot Rob ;) )

You can't be serious. I thought it was funny at first, but now you just proved that you're completely looney.

No man that bails on his child can be considered great at anything other than being a d***.

There was a game he played against us before coming to us while playing for the Spurs that really impressed me. He was carving us up with drives and outside shots. He was strong & crafty and one the few that could navigate the lane even with Hakeem there. Does someone remember the reverse from right to left side of the basket, shielding the ball with his body against Hakeem, slaping the backboard (before it was cool to do so) with his right hand...impressive.

I coveted him ever since that game and fell over myself when we got him. He had 80s Jordan-like speed & quickness. I heard a story once that a trainer believe Maxwell was every bit the athlete Jordan was but didn't have the work ethic.

the haters come out when there's a thread for praise for a Rocket player.
    That's any player or coach.

Max's personal life is exactly that. how do you know that he couldnt pay it? Look at Ralph Sampson's situation. he couldn't pay. he's not a millionaire anymore cause he was bad with money. and the judge based his support on his NBA salary.

before you start putting yourself as some righteous person and diss any NBA player. Watch the "What happened to Michael Ray?" special, they have it on NBA TV all the time.

it gives you haters great pleasure to go on praise threads. oh he did this so he's a bad person. just cause you hate him doesnt mean we do. just cause you dont forgive for something he did IN HIS OWN PERSONAL LIFE doesnt mean we do

why dont you start a "BAD PERSON NBA PLAYER THREAD"??
Oh yeah, please include Larry Bird for not recognize he has a daughter,
Magic for getting AIDS by cheating on his wife, Jordan for gambling and cheating on his wife. Shawn Kemp for having lots of illegit kids. cause you guys are righteous with da lord!

    and yes

    MAXWELL > YOU

Hmmm...I shouldn't judge him because I don't know him personally. Yet, you say that some raving lunatic jackass is better than me. Do you know me? I know you have some serious man-love for a guy who attacked a fan in the stands, fails to pay child support, has been arrested multiple times, etc., etc.

Since when does being a decent basketball player make you a good man?

i'm still waiting for your 'WHO IS A GOOD PERSON THREAD?'
or 'WHY WE DO WE LIKE PEOPLE WHO MAKE MISTAKES THREAD?'

Maxwell > You is whatever you think that is. Basketball skills, playing xbox. that's up to what you think that means.

    HMMMM
this is thread is called GREATEST MOMENTS IN VERNON MAXWELL HISTORY.

This is like if you hate Michael Jackson and you go to a Michael Jackson concert to tell people that you hate Michael Jackson cause you think he's a bad person.

why dont you go buy a front row ticket to RKelly and tell him how you dont like that he took a wiz on some girl.

My only regret from the championship years is that we never faced Chicago in the finals and got to see Max get in Michael's grill for seven games.
