beating Tyson in Mike Tyson's Punchout beating Super Mario Bros 3, even though i never finished the first 2 beating TMNT the Arcade game on NES beating TMNT 3 on NES on the first try using Game Genie for the first time beating Street Fighter 2 on Super NES without using any continues beating Vega in SF2 for the first time, he was hard as hell figuring out how to make 3 pointers in NBA Live '95 with basically anybody getting the fastest time in any stage in Super Mario Kart
i also had some zen moments playing quake I in highschool. when i learned how to rocket jump and grenade jump i would evade people and then hit em from the air, keep in mind that quake was one of the first firstperson shooters to even have jumping. it got to the point where they forced me to only use the shotgun, and i still had 5 frags for their every one. also, I've never heard of that cheat where Madden would give you a blowjob, don't think I would be interested in seeing that, though.
Beating Mike Tyson for the first time in Mike Tyson's Punchout Getting to the end of Metroid Getting to the end of The Legend of Zelda (first time around) Getting to the end of Strider (game on the Sega Genesis - real cool game) In the arcade, there are several, but maybe the best was when I was playing Tekken while I was an undergrad and I was using Law. I can't remember what computer fighter I was going up against (it might have been Paul), but I just starting hitting buttons and moving the joystick around. Next thing I know, Law does this awesome flex pose and just absolutely obliterates Paul! I don't know how I did that move (I think it was like joystick to the bottom left and hitting one punch button and one kick button at the same time). But that move drained 3/4 of your opponent's energy.
man i loved that game. damn friend's brother gave that away when he gave his snes to a cousin. and it was pretty expensive when i looked on ebay. i had almost every level perfected, and no one dared challenge me on rainbow road. if you take away the weapons (which always help the person way behind) i'm not sure my friend's brother could ever beat me on any race. i had some of those race records down so low it was stupid.
I *could* play at All-Madden and Heisman on both Madden and NCAA.. except for the insane kicking controls on those settings.. So I put it down to All American and All-Pro and just adjust the computer's AI settings to make him better.
What the hell are you guys talking about, Super Mario 2 was insanely easy. I think that was one of the first video games I ever beat.
It's a single jump on the empty shell that makes it work. It has to be just a bit hanging over the edge of the stair. If you're jumping multiple times, you're screwing it up. Ocassionally the ricochet stopped, you just had to jump on the shell again to rack up more lives.
For any NES masters out there, have any of you guys ever beaten TMNT on NES? (not the the arcade, the first one where you switch and stuff). I got to the last level, died at Shredder. IMO that's the hardest game ever. Beating the original mario and mario 3 were memorable moments. Winning a couple of 3 v 3 BGH in star craft was sweet as hell, especially when it's your friends v.s. 3 Koreans from far far away. When I installed world of warcraft 4 days ago and realize I would probably have very little life for the next few weeks.
Is this the game that had a level where you had to swim in the river to diffuse a bunch of bombs before they detonate? If it is, you're right. That game was insanely hard! Actually, I think that was the level I could never get passed. I don't remember alot about the game but I do recall having to drive around the city in the van alot.
I remember that game, i hated it to death, thats one of the few games where i would literally throw my controller around because I'd die for the dumbest reasons. I didnt get really far in that game. All i remember was going into the van and going around places to enter the actual stage.
Oh gosh, I could go on about this forever . . . one of my favorites: I was playing CS about three years ago. 6 on 6, we were the CT, they were the Terrorists. It was the airplane mission. All five of my partners got killed without registering a single frag. It was all on me. I slowly and carefully went through the entire level and killed all of them single-handedly. It took almost the entire five minutes, but I did it. Definitely one of my proudest moments in a game. There were a few games I was really dominant at back in the day. Duke Nukem deathmatch was one. I never lost a game I played on the internet. Probably 20, 30. Another was Jedi Knight. I was really good at it, but the thing I was best at was the CTF mode. Wasn't nearly as cool as Quake 2's was, but I was so awesome at the JK version. Beating the first Super Mario Bros. game is one I'll never forget. My friend and I were at his house and all the sudden we started doing better than we'd ever done before. Ended up making it to the 8th level. A week or so later, I beat the game. A few years ago, I brought it out again and played through it. I beat it three times in a row. Took a few hours, but it was fun. It gets harder the second time through, but after that it's the same. Oh, and one last one -- one time I was at a friend's house. He had a Game Genie for NES. I brought a bunch of games. We put Galaga in, put on the infinite lives cheat, and we played from about 3 AM until about 8. Got to like level 125 or something. I brought it back out a few months ago and played it. No cheats, got to level 47. Had a blast!
Mogrod, Dave2k Glad to see I did as well on that game as any body. I think the fact that game and Mario one was the only game me and my brother have for several years (we were really poor for a long period of time) definitely contributed to the constant playing of those games. Now I can't play a new game for more than 6 hours without getting bored of it.
all of these old school games is getting to download Emulators, anybody know any sites for Super NES Roms? edit: n/m realized that bit torrent has literally everything...
i cant believe no one has mentioned final fantasy 7 for playstation back in the day. 3 cd's, breath taking graphics, great story, i was 13 and recorded 100 hours on that game. but the best moment was when i got the gold chocobo and the knights of the round. vincent, cid, cloud, tifa... i have yet to play a game that inspired me as much as this.
christmas morning popping in super mario bros 1 for the very first time and starting my video game playing days was so awesome. such a simple game these days and yet just beating one level the first time was kinda hard. i remember the whole family taking turns for a while. one time i just ran as fast as i possibly could through every level and used the warps and i think i beat the game in something like 8 minutes. it probably took longer than that to get used to the control that first morning and here i was beating the whole game. super mario 2, i thought that was pretty hard back then. i could get to 7-2 but had no idea how to go through the level. i just kept going in a circle until i looked at a map of the world in a nintendo power magazine and then it was fairly easy. mario 3, such a slick and smooth looking game. easily the best of the 3. very cool concepts and things in that game. playing it recently i forgot how often you die. i didn't whistle for a while and some worlds i'd die 6 or 7 times before beating it. luckily i was racking up the lives like crazy so it was no problem. plus in world 1-1 or 1-2 there's a part where the little mushrooms keep coming out and you can bounce off them until it starts giving you 1 ups and you can get 50+ doing it that way.
Are you a god? I couldn't even get past the airport stage without Game Genie codes. The interior of the Technodrome looked impossible to pass by normal means when I went through it. Also, Friday the 13th on NES isn't exactly easy either.
