Ahh. I figured out the road name. If you're in the area, take a drive down Old Hockley Road in Magnolia. You'll see the house. It's absolutely amazing. I believe the guy's name is Tom Gullo, and he's a classic car collector and has something to do with all those dealerships...
I don't know what's worse - the people that are always PC or the people that always scream people are being too PC. 1) If you're griping about Christmas vs. Holiday, consider there are other holidays at that time. droxford's point is a good one - why alienate any one if you're trying to rip off everyone at the cash register? 2) People are going to buy Christmas presents no matter what the season is called. 3) I'm willing to bet that 90-99% of Christmas celebration has nothing to do with "Christ" in this country. It's more a marketing/retail holiday than a "holy day" to most. Sure people may attend service or Christmas Mass, but give me a break, from the day after Thanksgiving to January 1st it's all about retail sales, getting gifts, and wish lists more than anything religious. That beig said, props to those trying to keep a religious perspective on things. 4) As for the history of Christmas, many of the traditions regarding the exchange of gifts and the Christmas tree date back to the ancient Egyptians and Romans.
I definately can see this as a business opportunity. I wonder how much it would really cost to set something like this up.
You coulda gotten it from the Yousendit link I posted (http://s40.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3UNGX44A2TA6D0X690P3FTZ377)
I saw a special on DIYTV about doing stuff like this. A guy was saying that there are about three major companies across the US that do it. The cost can run from $15,000 to several hundrerd thousand.
Here are some random thoughts as i was watching it. 1) Oh my ****ing god that is sweet. 2) I'd hate to be that neighbor. 3) Who ever thought this up is a big ****ing dork. But, man, that was crazy. I felt like a kid. Who has their lights up already? I see a few neighbors with them up already.
