I knew about the single store record....I guess the news about it slowly got changed in some media coverage to the overall record. Still pretty impressive though.

Its well worth a play though. A huge amount of fan input was used when making both RL1 and RL2 in particular. Its also a good way to get into the sport too! :D

I wonder if anyone recognizes this game from the picture... probably my favorite of all time.

I loved it man, you should finish it. Such a funny game. I've been trying to find a working copy of it online. Or a site that has it. I have a copy, but it's in Saudi Arabia. :(

I idled away an entire summer playing this game... (one of my all time faves that very few have heard of or remember)

As a huge video game fan, I have to add something... I don't know how popular these games were in the USA so I'm sorry if I post something that this thread isn't about.

I remember playing Battletoads and Double Dragon 2 (or maybe 1?) - that was a really hard and really fun beat 'em up. Also Battletoads.

Streets of Rage 2 is one of my favorite games of all time.

Tecmo NBA basketball was great. Only if NES had a save function...

And my favorite game of all time on the old systems... Captain Tsubasa II: Super Striker - anyone know this one? People consider it really hard and I've heard people saying that it can't be beat if you don't lose along the way and level up. Well...I did it, it was painfully hard though. So frustrating it would sometimes bring me to tears when I lost time and time again. I recently got an English version of it and completed it again, with leveling up it's not that hard.

Damn, I'm sure I'm forgetting at least a few.

Just curious- anyone try out Heroes of Might and Magic 3 yet? I played it all day yesterday while I 'watched' the playoff games.

I loved DD, and battle toads. I can't really remember what battle toads was. But I recall the name and remember the cover to the game (box picture). I remember playing countless hours of it.

It's on my to do list... haven't even started Assassin's Creed yet, and I just ordered the entire Highlander TV series on DVD a few days ago. So it'll probably be awhile... but I'm sure I'll get to it eventually. It definitely piqued my interest.

    Oh man... HoMM3 FTW!

I was talking to one of my bosses the other day and randomly found out he loves this game too. And I don't work in a tech-related field either, so it was very surprising.

Yeah, it never ever gets old for me. I just get burned out on playing games period after marathon sessions. Then I go back and play it for an entire day months later.

I kept installing/uninstalling HOMM III. Always a good game.

For good new games similar to HOMM III, try King's Bounty: The Legend by 1C, a Russian company. I played the original game on my 386 or was it an Apple IIe on 5.25 disks?

Also enjoy very much a game called Space Ranger II Reboot by 1C, excellent Elite like space RPG game (but without the 3D flying aspect). It even has TEXT adventures.

    Loved the Ogre battle series..

    Final Fantasy 3 was awesome

HANGTIME on SNES? Its like a beefed up version of NBA Jam. That game was so addicting.

One of the games I also played that I didn't people heard of is Simcity on SNES, I would always play that game and try to get 50,000 people to live in my city :D

There were a few sports games for NES that I enjoyed as a kid that weren't that well known.

    - Blades of Steel
    - Kings of the Beach
    - Excitebike (although it's appeared to become more popular recently)

Most of all, I loved Tecmo Super Bowl. I usually hear people reference the original Tecmo Bowl, but TSB was far superior, IMO.

River City Ransom was a blast to play. I would always try to accumulate enough money so that I that I could get both Stone Hands & Dragon Feet.

There was no stopping Alex (or Ryan in my case since my older brother would choose Alex) when they had the 1000 MPH fists and feet coming 'atcha.

Darklands (PC) is an old favorite of mine. Open-ended RPG with a great historical setting.

Either much of this thread is a massive fail, or I'm really a videogame nerd. I recognize A LOT of the games mentioned! Probably a combination.

While I think few have heard of this game, I may be wrong, as evidenced by many replies to this thread.

Yeah, I think it's a combination, I pretty much feel the same way. I don't know how one can argue that Air Combat or Armored Core were "obscure."

Then again, I play way too many games...
