Are we being serious here?? X-Com?? Streets of Rage?? DoTC?? HOMM?? Life Force?? R-Type?? Contra?? I think we should rename the thread "Great Videogames that Everyone Played Before I was Born."

I'd nominate "Ultimate Tiger" but that's unfair since it's an import. It has probably still one of the best videogame score ever (NES version doesn't hold a candle to it):

    Here's my contribution...

    Kagero: Deception II (Playstation, 1998)

The basic idea is that you have to set up traps to kill your enemies, but the great part is that you determine when the traps activate and you can set them off one after another in order to do combos. For instance, you could hit a button to have a spiked wall slide out and knock a victim over a ledge, hitting a giant axe pendulum swinging from the ceiling on the way down. This also knocks them halfway across the room and into a water fountain. Before they can run away, you shock the water with an electric bolt from the ceiling and finish them off with a timely arrow shooting from the wall.

Considering that every room has a different layout and you can earn new traps along the way, there are endless ways to complete the game. Not to mention you get points for high combos, so you could even challenge a friend to see who's the better assassin.

    Here's an excerpt from IGN's review (8.5/10):

And here's a video. I assume it does a good job of showing the gameplay, but I don't know because I'm at work right now and can't watch it!

I know there's other ogre battles. FFT is from the makers of it as well.

I have the PS1 ogre battle, which is sposed to be rare. Haven't gotten around to it yet though.

Maybe they'll release it on the VC.

Out of This World for PC/SNES/Sega

Freaking trippy game. Hard as heck too.

Yup. Comparing gameplay footages on YouTube one after another is pretty funny, keeping in mind that the 2 versions of the game came out around the same time.

Bionic Commando (NES) had a catchy theme song.

Anybody remember the arcade game Pit Fighter?

Damn you... you're right. And I know this because I gave it to my ex (who loves adventure games), played half of it, then she cheated on me and whatnot and I never got to finish it. Boooooooo. I really should pick up another copy.

Yeah, the arcade Pit Fighter was great. They made it on SNES, but that one was horrible. :(

Funny someone mentioned Out of this World. I downloaded the ROM a couple months ago and I've been trying to beat it. Very frustrating but addictive.

    Warsong for the Genesis.

I think this is from a remake or a sequel.
