Well that's why he's been in my signature for about a month now.

I like the way when he spots up he puts out his hands and provides a nice target for the passer to throw it in his mits. And his release seems smooth. Don't know if he can do it against the big boys but I'd sure like to see him and TMac in a game of horse after practice.

Funny, I was going to bring up the Stro clip from last year too. It made him look like he was the 2nd coming of Shawn Kemp circa 1996 and I was SO excited. We know how that turned out....

    But.....

I haven't seen any highlights of Novak until now. Everyone was comparing him to Bull, but watching that clip, I don't see it. For the same reasons today mentions. Most of those shots were with a hand in his face and coming off the dribble. You never saw Bull do that. Not sure where this comparison comes from beside the fact that they're both white.

BTW, loved those shots he made from almost the halfcourt line!

    So was Gilbert Arenas.

    ;)

Novak looks like a good find and can shoot while moving, which is a very good thing.

He has some serious range, and shot for a high percentage, might be a solid bench guy with Hayes and Luther.

Jan 3rd, 2006. UCon Vs Marquette.
    Rudy Guy garding Steve Novak.

    Gay: 8pts, 7 reb.
    Novak : 41pts, 16 reb.

May be that's why we selected him and trade away Guy :D

I know that the Rudy Gay fiasco got us all distracted that we almost do not even bother to discuss Steve but i love this pick. He was one of the guys I wanted here and we landed him. It seems like with a healthy team he will be able to come in and give us 2-4 3-pointers per game.

He is also a very nice guy from the reports I have seen.

Most importatntly, he dropped 41 and 16 on Rudy Gay earlier in the season. If he turns out to be a Matt Bullard or Kyle Korver then we have done well.

Best wishes to him - I hopehe shines in the summer league and make our team.

That's why we shouldn't be worried about Gay leading Memphis anywhere, can you imagine any self respecting NBA stud letting Steve Novak punk him like that?

admittedly they are highlights but aside from a few inches and a few pounds they are not that different highlight clips to that of the number one pick Barganasi, guess the question can he add some bulk and play the 4, i'd be surprised if he is quick enough to play the 3 plus with TMac and Batman there won't be many minutes available

This was a pick that certainly addressed the need for shooting. 8-11 minutes a game to pop in the open 3's is something he's definitely capable of for this team. He's a bit more mobile than Matt Bullard but Novak almost exclusively shoots 3's only so he'd up end in the same Bullard role regardless. He should make the team of course.

Novak might not even make the team.
I think he will, but 2nd rounders rarely even get time their first year.

I'm going to really enjoy the hell out of watching Steve Novak play. I hope I haven't offended DaDakota to the point where he won't share an Austin Toros ticket with me. Because that's where Van Gundy is going to have Novak camped out....in the D league.

Dare I say it? He looks A LOT like Dirk shooting from 3 and not just because he's a tall white guy with range but his 1 or 2 dribble stop, fake, and pop looks just like Dirk's and he seems to have great range and a nice stroke. If only he could learn to drive and rebound better.

That's exactly what I thought watching that video. Seems like we have a player on our hands.

    Ditto.

He seems like he is content with knowing we drafted him for his shooting. That said he seems like he will continue to work on his shot this summer.

    Matt Bullard 2006...

I like this pick because it seems that he will contribute in some form or shape this year. and hopefully for years to come.

For those of you that have seen him play entire games...
How is he energy level throughout the game?
    His defense?
Does he play at all inside or strickly outside?
How does he play when his team is down by alot?

his game looks stiff. he's got a great shot, no doubt, but it's nowhere close to looking as smooth as redick. he doesn't have the elevation either but i guess that's what 6'10" does for you. that said, he's a second round pick and if he pans out to even scott padgett i think we'll have done alright.

I noticed that also, He usually had someone in his face plus he has some range. He may have a chance to contribute. He may even get easier shots cuz of the double teams that Yao and TMac command.

So was Cuttino Mobely. I don't expect to became the player that the Cat has become. But he may be able to contribute somewhat. Right now, we don't have many pure shooters. If he gives us what Padgett gave us, I will be more than satisfied.
