I have mixed feelings about New Radio

It was an incredibly great show and was not in decline at all until Hartman died. After that, they brought in Lovitz. He didn't do a bad job, but it just wasn't the same without Hartman.

To say that it "went south" or became unbearable to watch is not true for me. I still like the show a lot.

But then again, it just wasn't the same without Hartman.

News Radio was never crap, but it wasn't as good after Phil's passing.

    That man made that show.

Also, I was happy to see that the Simpsons didn't attempt to re-hire someone to do Troy McClure's voice.

    Scrubs
    Reno 911
Simpons (HUGE Simpsons fan, but I'd have to agree)

Q: Which two great shows went downhill over time?

If you answered Family Guy and South Park... you're wrong. They were never great. :)

heroes -jury is still out season 2 and the first part of season 3 were total jokes after an amazing season 1...the past few episodes of season 3 have been interesting again but still not up to season 1 standards. chances are one more slight misstep and this show is done.

family guy --I am sorry to me this show just isn't that funny anymore there are just waaay to many gag "fill ins" as I call it to kill time on the show that goes on entirely way too long (the 10 minute chicken fight sequence) the past week's songs about weed way too long, peter tip toed not to set off his car alarm. its getting way too predictable and most of the time i dont even care if a new episode is on.

Ditto Married w/ Children when they had Seven. What a colossally bad idea.

I also agree, News Radio dipped after Phil died, but it was still an enjoyable show.

I'm a bit surprised to see Reno 911 mentioned. It's not necessarily consistent, but far from unbearable. And the new season has been good so far. Still one of the few shows I look forward to watching.

I agree, that was a weird circumstance. It was at its peak when Hartman died. The show obviously was not gonna be better without him, but I think they did a pretty good job considering the circumstances. They really developed the Joe and Andy relationship which I thought was pretty funny at times. There were still some good episode then, just not as good as the Phil Hartman ones

I never really cared for it, but wasn't it only on for like 2 years? How could it have become unbearable?

    You have to be joking...

The third season started a little slow but it picked back up and was good as ever

yeah - the key on that was..... the show didn't depend on ONE character. Sure, it wasn't the same without Hartman, but they built so many excellent characters besides Bill McNeall that it was still a great show after he was gone.
.. but not the same... I dunno.

Newsradio became unbearable to watch because it made you curse the day Phil Hartman's wife was born.

The 11th season of the Simpsons was horrible. So many stupid guest appearances. Ugh.

This season of Scrubs has been pretty crappy, JD and Eliot back together? really?

Also agree on Family Guy, I think the first 4 seasons were its heydey.

I agree, I think it was picking up steam as it left the air, hardly becoming unbearable.

    Sadly, I'm starting to agree.

I'm always the one on this site defending this show from all the naysayers, but this season...well, there's really not much to defend. I don't like watching 8 horrible skits just to catch the 1 decent one.

Or course, there's always "Gilllllyyyyyyy....Gillllllllyyyyyy........" which of course is BRILLIANT.

After Chrissy left they had a couple of roomates in the final seasons that tried to do the same comedy - it didn't work. Then they did that horrible spinoff "Three's a Crowd".
