If your team's attributes could be one of these.... which are you picking?

He who controls the rebound controls the game. Even Warriors, the 3pt team, is still one of the top rebounding team.

Remember the 2013-14 LA Lakers? Me either, but they shot .381 from 3pt land that year, which was 3rd behind San Antonio and Dallas (Both made the playoffs) however the Lakers finished 27-55 which was 2nd the last in the West, and 7th worst overall.

These same lakers were out rebounded by 8 rebounds a game that year.

So, I think I'll go with a rebounding team, please.

93-95 Rockets were at the bottom of the league in rebounding so there's that. I say no TOs trumps all!

See my thread in the GARM regarding the Rockets being 9th in the league for points per shot, despite 26th in the league in 3pt%. Combine that with the fact we shoot the most 3s in the NBA, if we also were even top 5 in %, what would that do?

Rebounding. Both are hugely important given the way we play, though.

Consider this... GS is a MUCH better 3PT team than a rebounding team. They're currently ranked #1, shooting 43.3% while #2 is at 40.0%. The difference in that discrepancy (3.3%) is same as #2 to #7. They do rebound well, currently #6, but it's safe to say 3PTs help them more than rebounds.

Here's a link for lazy posters, such as myself :)

    Does PPS account for FTs?

When you hear, "____ scored ____ points on ____ amount of shots", free throws aren't always mentioned.

I thought it counted AND-1s, but maybe not.

Regardless, looks like we are #11 in PPP, which does count FTs. We would probably be #9 in PPP, if it weren't for the fact we weren't 24th in FT%

Golden state has changed the math of the game by shooting 3pts so well. Give me that.

Surprising. Hakeem's fadeaways limited his offensive rebounding, but it's still surprising we were that bad a rebounding team.

What FT ranking would net us 11th in PPP?

PPS is usually calculated simply as PTS/FGA, which means any made free throws drive up PPS, and there is no penalty for missing free throws. For example, someone that was 0/2 from the field and 4/12 from the free throw line (obviously an extreme example) would have 2.0 PPS. If we assume those 12 FTA came on 6 possessions, then they would have 0.5 PPP.

Get me a 25 year list of the #1 team in each of these categories. 75 team list. Let me know when it's done.
