Laker fans are simply the most annoying r****ds in all of sports. They believe they have a devine right to win championships. Elton Brand, Yao Ming, and Kobe Bryant?!?! Hello, its not fantasy basketball.

And WTF do they mean Yao can be the next great Laker center? Houston does not actually have a bad history of centers either. Hakeem and Moses can go against anyone.

I remember Barkley asking Magic whether the Lakers would go for Yao, Magic said sth like nothing is impossible. And then both Magic and Charles began to laugh, and Charles laughed very nervously.

This happened after Yao-Shaq IV. Common sense told us that after Yao-Shaq V, Yao's face value has just gone up another level.

Also did anyone hear Barkley's comment on the Rockets backcourt as blindmen?

Last night I saw a poll on TV:"who is the best foreign born NBA player",

lakers fan gave 92% votes to Medvedenko. Yao only got 2%.

    I don't think they like Yao .

And Yao can politely decline to sign an extension, which means he will have to take a smaller contract somewhere else, but big deal.

If he takes less money in LA, he'll make up for that by being able to film movies on his off days. Movies that would make him millions and millions in extra cash, simply because they will be marketed in China.

YM leaving the Rockets is a very real concern, and if it happened the franchise would be gutted for years to come.

Why... would Yao film movies when he hates attention in the first place?

Because I think fame is addictive. At first a player hates it, then tolerates it, then accepts it, then enjoys it, and finally craves it.

Plus he would make a fortune from movies that the CBA could never touch.

So people honestly believe that if this **** continues, and Steve and crew is still here after Yao's rookie contract expires, Yao isn't going to another team?
He may be a modest guy, but he isn't stupid.

as real as our concern about yao leaving is, in the end its up to yao.

i believe he feels he has a home here. yao doesnt seem like the type of guy to leave for another team just to make some movies. i could understand if we were losing. but we will make the playoffs this year, and next year we will buid around him and hopefully pull down the 5th seed. by the time yao has to make his choice we will be a better team than the lakers.

the lakers right now are about to fall apart. kobe leaving is a very real concern. payton leaving can probobly be counted on. malone is gone. and phil may not be braught back.

I don't deny there's always the chance that Yao goes to another team... but you're so sure of that because? There's NO CHANCE this team wouldn't be build around Yao by next season. If Steve doesn't conform he'll be traded.

Fame is addictive to YOU. Yao spent his career, going through great length avoiding fame. If he becomes the greatest player ever he'll be famous WHEREVER he is.

One more thing: Yao has not bought a home in Houston yet. He is renting one.

If i were in Yao's shoes, why wouldn't I consider playing for LA in 2 years?

NBA finals oppty. every year with Kobe and P. Jackson
NBA salary would be less but overall earnings is much more
    17-20 shots/game even with Kobe
    Better front office/owner
    Better coaching with proven system
    Talented teammates without vision problems
    Better offcourt earnings
Most home games would be sellouts
Agent/Team Yao would want a large market for their client.
