Why does he need to average 10 points? Are you aware that only 4 players on the Rockets average more than 10ppg? I think you should be satisfied if Cato is putting up 6-7 rebounds and 2 blocks per game in around 25 minutes. Any points that he scores should be seen as a bonus, after all we DO have Mo and Dream as our "big men scorers". ------------------
No, I don't think, nor did I say, that Cato has redeemed himself with his 15 minute effort against the Cavaliers. I was merely responding to your comment about how nice it must be to have low standards. I say to you that getting 6 rebounds, 2 offensive, 2 points, 2 assists, and a block in 15 minutes is not a low standard. And getting excited about it does not mean that I had low standards of Cato. What were your expectations of Cato in 15 minutes in his first action coming off a stint on the IR? Should he have gotten a double double in order to live up to your standards? I personally don't believe that Cato is as good in 48 minutes as he was in last night's 15 minutes, but it is a positive, and I will never shy from revelling in the positives of this year's Rockets team. Whether or not Cato can stay healthy and productive will only be told by time, but certainly his Saturday night performance cannot be looked down upon as "sub-standard." ------------------ "Happiness is a journey, not a destination. Please don't tell CD it was a great game. Remember the contract he got for the Cleveland pre-season game. Last thing I want to see is Cato getting a 12 year, $300 million dollar deal.
What a great game for Kelvin Cato! Scoring two points pulling down six rebounds and blocking one shot in 15 minutes is pretty solid for someone just coming off the injured list. Like Hakeem Olajuwon, Cato is eventually going to help the Houston Rockets in a big way. Olajuwon is giving the Rockets an extra boost in scoring, rebounding, block shots and steals since he was activated from his last injury. With Olajuwon's extra help the Rockets have won the last four of their five games. Cato is going to help the Rockets by: blocking shots, rebounding, playing solid defense and scoring off of pentrations from our guards. When Rudy Tomjanovich plays Olajuwon and Cato at the same time, the Rockets have twin towers to intimidate opposing teams. These twin towers would prevent easy shots, rebound well, play good defense and block shots. ------------------
those stats would be in 60 minutes. And anyway who the hell plays 48 minutes a game? Definitely not Cato. At most he will see 30 minutes a game. 4 points, 12 boards(excellent), 2 blocks. Not bad considering he got no touches and still isn't 100%. ------------------ Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion
Cato can block shots! He is just freaking injury-prone! ------------------ WHAT ARE YOU DOOOOOOOOO-ING!
RunninRaven: I prefer not to form standards or expectations at all for such a short sample period. Such time is hardly indicative of a trend, and is unlikely to confirm or deny any hopes for future success. In other words, his time was irrelevant. I thought it was silly to be so pleased. I never said that Cato's performance was poor; it's merely irrelevant and NOT INDICATIVE OF FUTURE PLAY. Dr: The number was fairly arbitrary, but one which is in my mind, reasonable and necessary. Face it, right now we don't have a post up threat besides Hakeem (who won't be with us, in all probability next year). Neither Thomas nor Taylor are truly post players. That leaves Cato to fulfill this role. I'm not sure that a team can win a championship without SOME post threat. ------------------ Shandon Anderson rocks. The lottery sucks. Playoffs 2001.
