Regardless, you know damn well some people got away with it while others didn't. If MLB finds drugs in your system, penalize them. If you didn't bother to test them for years and years while other major sports were, that's on YOU, as in MLB. Personally, I don't understand why there isn't more of an outcry to this. This is clearly MLB's fault.
funny if he get's jailtime. There are a lot of players (of all sports) that's done a lot worse and not had jailtime. imo
So if a store is negligent in watching for theft, people who steal aren't at fault - it's simply the store's fault? Is there such a thing as individual responsibility to you?
Piss poor analogy. A better one is let's say a highway is for years without speed limits. People become aware of this and speed down the stretch all the time. The State does nothing about it. Then one year they decide that they should set the speed limit at 70. Nothing wrong with that. The problem would be to go back to the years where speed limits weren't set and ticket everyone they could catch who was speeding.
Speaking of individual responsibility, I did some sleuthing. The condescending tone seemed a little familiar. See, when I get booted from this board. I respect it. I send Clutch an email apologizing and typically I'll email again every month or so if I haven't been let back in. I don't login under someone else's moniker and act as if nothing has happened. From what I can see from account history, "Major" averages about 2-3 posts a week, if that. He can go for days without responding. But his post count increased to 5-10 a day on or around November 8th. Speaking of which, another poster hasn't posted at all since a November 8th comment. Hmm.
I agree with your sentiment in principle, but answer me this devil's advocate query: in attempting to take your comparison to its logical end, I've come up with the following scenario. Johnny's Boutique has been in business for over 100 years, and everyone knows that there's been a ridiculous shoplifting problem for like 30 years. The other stores installed security systems, computerized inventory, hidden camaras, and other measures as long as 15-20 years ago and began prosecuting right away, but Johnny's never really did much of anything. 3 years ago, Johnny's Boutique suddenly decided this was a very serious issue and installed hidden camaras, computerized inventory, and security camaras and began prosecuting, but... Johnny's also conducted an investigation into the activities of some of its patrons dating back to ten years ago, even involving the FBI. Some shoplifters were granted immunity in exchange for their testimony concerning the activities of other shoplifters--ten years ago. Johnny's is penalizing these select patrons, or asking the local authorities and/or the FBI to do so, ex post facto, for wrongs committed ten years ago when they were at the time obviously turning a blind eye to the activities. Doesn't it strike you as just a bit disingenuous? Of course the shoplifters were wrong in their actions, but doesn't Johnny's look just a little stupid?
Steroids have been on baseball's banned list of substances since the early 1990s. Clemens' name came up in the Mitchell report and he allegedly lied under oath during his testimony. If he used steroids when they were on the banned substance list he should have admitted it while under oath. He could have even used the lame excuse Pettitte did (does anyone believe Pettitte was 100% truthful?), apologize and this would be over with.
Are you kidding? I post several messages a day in the D&D alone. I have 13000 posts in about 8 or 9 years - do the math. You need to retake Sleuthing 101.
Johnny certainly looks stupid - but there's nothing wrong with what they are doing. The shoplifters are at fault here; they can't hide behind a "but no one told me shoplifting was bad!" or "the store encouraged me to shoplift!" defense. The fact that they weren't being watched carefully doesn't mean they shouldn't be caught if proof can be found later on. There's nothing that says we have to catch all the shoplifters or none of them.
He's not even going to jail for steroids, so why are you guys arguing as if he was. It's the perjury thing.
I find it funny that Major is some formerly banned poster in disguise. Dude's been around forever and has NEVER changed his posting habits, as far as I can remember. Although I have forgotten what his moniker was before he changed it to Major.
FFB might be implying that some of Major's posts in the last 2 months are those of Rocketman95 who hasn't posted since November 4 (even though FFB mentions November 8). FFB might be implying that RM95 is banned, but I think you don't see a signature on old posts if someone gets banned and RM95's signature still exists on his old posts. - Encyclopedia Brown
Encyclopedia Brown!!!!! Man, what an awesome blast from the past. Thanks for bringing that treasure up from the abyss of long forgotten memory.
I THINK that if you get banned, your signature no longer shows up. RM95's signature is still showing on his old posts.
