It's a deterrent, Sam. It lets a Weisbrod know that a Francis will have to do his job if traded, or the Francis will be severely penalized and the Weisbrod will be well compensated.

Phoenix just went to Amare and asked him if he was ok with potentially getting McGrady (before the #7 pick was dealt) so why on earth would they turn around and deal Amare for McGrady?

Weisbrod is a noob. He does not understand!

Francis has to report and he will try to do the best he can. U can't not fake it in BB. People can see and a player who under performs, hurts himself more than he does anyone else.

If he is not happy, the only choice he has is not to resign with the same team and that is 5, 6 yrs down the road. Even then, you can trade him and get some values back.

rF, the thing that bugs me about the current system is that the Weisbrod gets no cap compensation. You save cash, but a huge chunk of your cap is locked up on a non-reporting player. You need to know you won't suffer along with the player.

I have never seen a player not report though. Weisbrod is only scared that Steve will be "unhappy," not that he won't show up.

Your idea is a good one, but then there is the Players' Association to deal with.

I feel more comfortable now. I don't think Mcgrady is going to agree to sign an extension with Pheonix at this point now that it is all but a done deal to Houston.

If the visit goes well, Orlando will make the trade and keep Francis, possibly trade Cuttino to Miami. If the visit doesn't go so well, they probably have a plan to trade Steve to Seattle, Washington, or wherever.

The Rockets are the last player left in the Mcgrady sweepstakes.

I don't get this. If Orlando "tries" to trade TMac to the Suns, that means the Suns will "get" a one year player; TMac (he wont sign an extension w/the Suns. Only Houston.). I mean, that essentially sending their best player to Orlando for nothing next year.

Why in the hell would they do that?

If anything, Orlando will try and make a trade with Houston; Francis + others for McGrady. Then send Francis to the Suns for other players: Marion, etc...

    Everyone is happy.

So let me get this straight, the future of the Rockets and thousands of fans, our hopes and dreams, our chances for a championship, our chances to enjoy seeing Ming and TMac play together, years of potential fun and enjoyment are in the hands of STEVE FRANCIS!!!!!????? God help us. If he likes Orlando the trade goes through, but if he doesn't TMac goes to the Suns!!!???Is there a better definition of INSANITY? I have a suggestion, why don't the Magic simply say to Francis, if you come you will get paid or you can refuse to report, and not get paid, you choose. What are contracts for? The NBA needs to intervene in this one; this is ridiculous.

The Ticket in Dallas said after the draft that the Steve-T-Mac deal was off the table b/c of Franics, not sure how they know, or what makes them say that just throwing it out there

    solid,

You are right. It is insane! Where's Sane when you need him? :) Anyways, think about this...

Francis felt that the Rockets management treated him badly by not allowing him to be involved. Ok, fine. He intentional/unintentionally complains to the media in order to "scare" the Magic of making this trade. He caveats that with a few comments about how he doesn't want to leave Houston. Ok, fine. Then, recants his comments because he know how this is making him look. Now, he's visiting Orlando....

    Ok, so far so good?

Well, what's the worst thing that could happen: Francis would nix the trade because he refuses to play elsewhere! But guess what? That would backfire on him. If he did that, it would be WORSE FOR FRANCIS. Francis would be seen as "cry baby" if tries to SABOTAGE the deal. How do you think that Francis will be view here after pulling one of those? If you think that he's not welcomed now. Think of how he'd be treated after he pulled a "I'm gonna pout until I get my way." I mean, talk about immature!

Sometimes I wonder if Francis has any clue about why some don't want him here? He must be completely oblivious to why his PG "skills" are not not liked.

If this deal doesn't go through. This will be Francis.

Why is the media not reporting on Francis' Orlando visit?

    Is Francis still going?
Why is this not a major story?
