Good article. I hope this is what happens. It would be insane to trade for DH with a bad back, no reassurances he will sign, not to mention all the b****ING and WINING he would do. Go with the youth the way we should have done three years ago. A majority of fans will be happy and support the team. I really hope Les is starting to understand.

I'm trying to be as objective about our rebuild as I can, cuz I worry that I'm just getting sucked into some sort of availability bias where I overrate our players simply cuz we have them and have seen them show flashes of quality in some summer league highlights.

So it's been gratifying that a friend of mine who follows the blazers the same way I follow the Rox said he was so impressed at the rookies that he's really excited to watch our team.

I haven't been very high on the Howard trade simply because he doesn't want to be here. So I preferred a Bynum trade instead. But after hearing about the extent of his knee problems, I don't want to gut our young players for a big health liability. Especially since he's going on the FA market anyway next year. If we develop our guys this year, we still get 2 lotto picks (probably we'll be a lotto team) and really get a serious haul of young talent. At that point, we still have tons of cap room and have the young core of players that can make it attractive for the FA market. If Bynum is serious about considering Hou as a destination, then I'm happy if we get him in next year's market instead of worrying the whole season if he's going to re-sign w/ the Rox next year if we trade for him.
