Honestly, we're not supposed to be a championship caliber team this year. We're still supposed to be looking for a 3rd all-star, either home grown or traded/signed in FA. And then we still need time to build chemistry and gel. As long as we're on the Road to a championship caliber team, I think that's a good thing.
Yeah one thing I noticed... is that PPat is actually shooting slightly better than Millsap this season and rebounding at a fine rate for how many minutes he's played this season. Bargain wise if you want someone long term then PPat makes more sense. If you are wanting to swing for a star PF anytime soon then you want to go with Millsap b/c he would be an expiring.
our perimeter defense problem is tied to our helping defense. everyone tends to sag into the lane when opponent ball handler breaks down our defense with p&r. so we need to solve our p&r defense first. to defend p&r, the best is switch. jvg demanded yao to switch on small guy a lot. yao worked his butt off on positioning himself better and moving his feet. harden or lin needs to box out opponent big or at least slow down him.
if sampson says it's not coaching then harden, lin and bev are all hard headed because they all do the exact mistakes. To me, it's about having a pf or center than can show hard and disrupt the play. I'm not blaming the coaching either, because the P&R has been killing folks since the 1990s
I personally think that Howard is super aware of his limitations, but he's not going to accept them. He's basically just going to try harder.
Too much pearl clutching for this early in the season, especially since we know at least one "big" trade is right around the corner. I did find Lowe's comment about Atlanta interesting, though. If Morey is waiting until the 15th, that must be the trade. I wonder if both teams have already agreed to the deal?
I have noticed how effective this play has been when executed. I love how Bev really commits off the ball to set that screen, there isn't really alot of off ball movement for us. This is a major problem when we have to get a bucket in the half court. We need more smart plays like this to be able to execute in a crunch tine situation.
Never put anything into what a player does when he plays for the Kings. Any player that has sucked for them has been good for us, and any player that has been good for us has sucked for them, they waist talent with the best of them!
Pretty good article, but a little too negative in tone considering it's still the early stages of the season and we don't really KNOW how things will shake out with the Rockets D yet. Also seems too eager to beat up Dwight given that the Rockets offense has been excellent so far this season (especially when you consider all the minutes we wasted trying the TT lineup).
I think the headline sounded much more negative than the actual article. All of his criticisms are correct, but everybody knows these things, and they are fixable. It will take time to make it all come together.
I don't think it is negative at all. It's just the title of the article that was written for hits and seems down on the Rockets.
I always thought Millsap for Asik made too much sense, to the point where I wonder if that's why Atlanta signed him for basically the same contract as Asik has left on his deal. But given the way each of them has been playing so far this season, I think Atlanta might unfortunately have the upper hand on this one...
geezus...effing brutal analysis. The parts about Lin Harden and Parsons...so true and so painful. frigging depressing to read
Their defense sucks though and their coach said they need rim protection,so I think trading Asik straight will be fair for both sides.
PnR defense will be better with better execution of ice. I don't see Rockets using switch very much. Perimeter defense off the ball will only be fixed with better defensive awareness and less gambling.
