No way. Rockets are looking for elite floor spacers and defenders, not ball-stoppers.

So what you are saying is that up until the WCF nobody knew about the Grizzlies? It is 2013 not 1982.

It was fairly obvious that the "Brick House" reference repeated throughout the commentary was a homage to the Grizz as a defensive stalwart.

The Grizz are the team I support in the West when H-Town are done.
But this statement borders on insane.

I couldn't pick a better team for the Rockets to play in the 2nd round of the Playoffs.

If given the choice of choosing:
    a) Houston's offense overcoming Memphis' defense, or
b( Memphis' offense overcoming Houston's defense

    I choose A 10 times out of 10.

Your biggest threat offensively - is nullified by the fact Houston have currently two of the top big man defenders in the League.

Houston is the equal last team Memphis would look for in the Playoffs.
Of course tied with broomsville San Antone.

Well now with Asik and Howard, two of the top 5 defensive centers, the Rockets can more or less stop Bo and Gasol. And outside of your two bigs, where are the Grizzles gonna get points? Tony Allen, Prince, Conley and Bayless? Lolol I don't think so. Harden looks to be on another step this year, we will see how effective he is against defenders like Allen. I would still choose the Rockets to win in 5 or 6.

Yeah I don't disagree with this ranking. Heat, Spurs, OKC, Pacers, Nets, Clippers, Bulls ahead of us.

Finally someone has the Rockets above the Warriors and Knicks.

With all due respect, think about this for a minute. Do you really think Melo would be holding the ball here???

The answer is a resounding No. Harden is the ball-starter. Melo isn't going to get the rock to be the ball stopper. He would get the rock to finish. The wide open 3-balls he gets here and his stroke...he's durn near 50% from 3 here off all those kickouts.

An offensive trio of Harden/Dwight/Melo would be deadly. The best offensive trio in the league by far. If Melo becomes available Morey will be all over it.

Jalen predicting Durant will join Harden and Howard when his contract is up.

Is that even possible salary wise?

Melo is an elite floor spacer as a spread 4. He does have that ball stopping problem. He is a great player, but is making a lot of money. The Knicks have a crappy team, but won 54 games last season (I know it is the East, but 54 games in East is still a lot).

Last season, the Knicks scored more points from the 4 than any other team. They were also 2nd best at denying teams from scoring at the 4 (82games.com). Melo played about half the minutes at the 4 last season for the Knicks.

For all the hate he receives, he is still a great player. He just is on a horrible team and makes too much for a good team to want to acquire him at that price. Taking salary out of the question, he would definitely be one of the top 5 PFs that I would want on the team.

Memphis doesn't make the WCF if Westbrook is healthy to begin with.

He'd had to sell the Bobcats/Hornets wouldn't he? For one game?
    Er... sorry, Jalen...

But not surprising since Simmons is very much down on Dwight. He even said before FA that Dwight is a "risk" as a FA signing.

Personally, I don't mind any of the teams ranking ahead of us currently. I disagree, but I'm fine. The only team I dislike ranking ahead of us by many "experts" is GSW. That team I feel we are simply superior to.

I have a problem with ranking us behind the Nets (old, Eastern conference), Pacers (overrated in general, Eastern conference, no superstars), and Bulls (just don't know how good Rose will be, and he has to play like the old Rose for the Bulls to be > than us).

I would say we're at about the same level as OKC (because of Westbrook's injury) and the Clippers.

The Heat/Spurs are the clear 1 and 2.
