Yep... and it seems like not one single analyst brought this up. Harden was way more efficient than Westbrook that year & took way less shots but they gave it Russ because he average a triple double when harden leads the league in assist in his first year playing the pg position and the team had better record... It's pretty ****ed up how this is all missed and how inconsistent the mvp and so call analyst are.
The majority of people I heard on the radio were picking Giannis before this game -- I think he may have already lost it before this game. I'm wondering if it's even going to be close.
Yeah for an MVP race everyone is calling “one of the closest ever and neither choice is wrong” I imagine the actual voting will be fairly one sided.
Harden just isn’t politically correct. Because he is not receiving the hardware he deserves he will not go down as one of the greatest of all time. —> Truly a shame.
I told people to swallow their pride and cheer for the Warriors to win. THEY had the best chance of overtaking Bucks for best record.
MVP's aren't going to put him as one of the greatest of all time. It's going to come down to championships and dominating playoff performances. He has enough regular season performance accomplishments to put him in the conversation if he gets at least 2 rings. Without the rings, he will be remembered in the same light as Karl Malone, John Stockton, Allen Iverson, Charles Barkley etc. No rings = No GOAT. an extra regular season MVP or two won't change that.
Sadly, I think it will be Giannis, and perhaps by a fairly wide margin. Doesn't mean its right. The biggest think I think working against Harden is that Giannis is the new guy in the conversation. A good analogy would be the Hakeem/Robinson race, the year after Hakeem won MVP. He had a BETTER year the following year, but they like to spread it around..which is what led to Hakeem DOMINATING Robinson in the playoffs, indicating that Robinson had HIS trophy. With any luck, that same karma will work here!
