Conley does not have the offense numbers nor does he have a lot of assist to be really elite

but he is a borderline allstar with the things he does

My question to you is, at what point does overall skills, trump the offensive game of Curry and Westbrook?

With this might be true, there is a stat that says that Conley passes the ball like the 5 most times of any player in the league. The thing is that many of Conley's passes go to Zach who is the ultimate assists killer.

I think it's safe to say that, assuming health, there's not more than 2-3 GM's, if that, that would take Conley over those two.

Never really, Stockton was the best half court playmaker in nba history as well as a significantly better defender. Offensively Conley is more role player than star, he does everything pretty well, he's not an elite shooter, an elite scorer or an elite play maker, he's good at all of them, like a super glue guy you can ask to do bits of whatever, he's a great, but not game changing defender.

CP3, Curry, Westbrook, Rose, Parker, Lillard, Irving, Wall, Dragic, Lowry, and Rondo are better. So Conley is the about 12th to 14th best point guard along with Lawson and Holiday.

If you go advanced stats, rather than looking at average points, you'd see that Conley is an elite scorer and playmaker. Conley doesn't try to score 30 a game, but he is one of the better finishers, 3 point shooters, and pick n roll players amoung the pgs.

The fact that he doesn't score 25 a game doesn't mean he CANT do it, just that he doesn't try to do it.

Sometimes the difference maker is sheer determination.

If he is not determined to pass Randolph as the 2nd offensive option then nobody can help his case.

Agreed. Although I will say it's very close for Rose, Dragic and Lowry. They are only marginally better IMO.

Maybe Rose thrusts himself back to elite this season, who knows.

Parker don't get no respect on this board. CP3, Westbrook and Curry are the top 3, with Parker following close behind. Can't say anything about Rose until he plays for half a season. Conley may not even be a top 10 PG. He is an above-average defender and is adequate at everything else, but he's not close to top 5.

It would be hard to argue Mike Conley being a top 10 PG, let alone 5

It's not hard at all to argue Mike Conley is top 10. I actually think he's probably better than Tony Parker right now overall when you factor in both sides of the ball and team construction.

I would say after the top 3 of Westbrook, CP3 and Curry, Dragic and Conley were probably 4 and 5 for me last year. None of the east PGs were as impressive IMO.

Irving is in no way better in terms of actually helping his team win than Conley. The Grizz made the playoffs with Marc Gasol out for a long stretch. Z-Bo is not the same player he was 3 years ago. That offense has no spacing either.

Conley was 4th in RAPM for PGs last year. Not that the stat is a be all/end all but to say he isn't in the conversation after the big 3 is pretty short sighted IMO.
