I think so too, a lot of it will be if the Rockets are still even in the race for a seed by the time they can make the trade.

One thing though if you get Granger and say keep pieces like Martin...maybe that will make the team more attractive to a guy like CP3.

Granger is a perfect fit beside Martin and they will be the best wings in the game just behind LeBron and Wade. While players like Granger hardly ever are available, they need to get him for his reasonable salary. Imo it'd be Scola and Lowry out. Then if they can swing a deal for Whiteside he'll plug in the middle.

    Yao + AB ($17.7M + $2M) for Granger + Dunleavy ($11M + $10.5M)

    or $19.7+ 15% ($22.6M) -- works for $21M in trade

The Pacers get cap relief now and in the summer and we get a player and $10M in cap relief for next summer. It's two players for two players so the roster spots stay even. Dunleavy can re-sign with the Pacers next year, and Yao can re-sign with us. Everybody is happy.

    Hell yeah i'd do that.

I think a one two three of Brooks/Martin/Granger wow

Maybe Twill can man the point there but Brooks when healthy should be able to. Put in Hill/Patterson at the 4 and just solve the C problem and maybe if that team can grow together and get the perfect chemistry then they can mimic that Pistons team everyone talks about.

Think about it for a minute though. Morey has already said Brooks will stay long-term. And there's a reason Smith now has a gauranteed contract. As Scola can be replaced by giving Patterson more playing time along with Hill. I also think Whiteside can plag the middle. It's not like Granger is old he's in his prime and needs a new place. And this makes them prime targets in any trade.

I agree, but I'm not sure we'll even have the pieces to get CP3 after we deal for Granger. They're going to want more than just Patterson, and we only have (1) draft pick of value to trade (NY 2012).

Our cheap trade assets consist of: 2012 NY 1st, Courtney Lee, Aaron Brooks, Jordan Hill, Chase Budinger, and Patrick Patterson.

You're probably looking at something along the lines of Courtney Lee, PPat, Jeffries and the NY 2012 just to acquire Granger. It doesn't really leave much to make a big offer to New Orleans with, unless you can convince them to salary dump with Yao's insurance contract.

I'm also not sold on Granger pairing with Martin. Both are the type that depend on others to create for them..

Peeps, I understand people saying that they want a Center, and that should be our priority, but let´s think for a second.

Who are the long time Centers available???? NO ONE

So if a guy like Granger is available, what you do is simple, you try and bring a guy like Jeff Foster with him, I know he is not THE ANSWER, but he is an expiring 33 year old center that averages 1,5 blocks in 15 mins. Once again he is not the long time future C we want, but WHO IS???

People are talking about Whiteside, 1st of all, let me say that I was the first praying that DM would draft this kid by buying a 2nd round pick last year, but the kid is proving, like 99% of the people knew, he is a loooooooong time project, he can´t stay on the flour in the d-league, he is a foul waiting to happen.

You don´t pass on a Granger type talent, I continue to think DM is trying Melo, but I would not be surprised if he went for Granger plus Foster (of course Indiana would make us take that Posey contract) ...

They'll want a lot for Granger, Bird values him pretty high.

exactly. there is no all star caliber center out there we can obtain.

all we can try to do is get a serviceable center. im sure morey has been trying to find someone.

if you can get granger, you do it.

Granger is playing pretty bad down the stretch in a close game

Pacers had a good chance to beat the Spurs but Granger misses 2 fts and took a horrible airball looking layup in the final minute, they lose.

Now would be a time in their careers where you just happen to be able to buy low on 2 particular players

    Danny Granger
    OJ Mayo

The window won't be open for long.

I think the only way we net a trade for a guy like Granger is by:

    A) throwing in Patterson.
    B) trading Jeffries now for a multi-year player and a draft pick (ie to a team looking for cap relief) so that we can offer them two first-rounders (our other 2012 first rounder and the one we'd obtain in a trade of Jeffries)
    C) Taking on their worst contract, which looks like James Posey.

I'd give them Hill + Budinger. I'd think they prefer a long 6'10 bruising PF than a rookie who really hasn't shown much. They also need a SF replacement, which in this case is Chase B.

smdh..we don't need anymore role players or other teams borderline all-stars like iggy and granger, if were not getting a legit franchise player like melo, paul or howard...we need to start rebuilding now and get rid of these contracts for drafts picks ortherwise will continue to be stuck in the middle beating the bad teams and losing to the good teams.
