I already pre ordered MVP 2005 and from what I hear at EBgames it wont be out till March 3rd I cant wait that long
Wrong. It'll be out today or tomorrow depending on your EBGames. I just talked to mine and they guaranteed it'd be in tomorrow. Release date got pushed up a week.
IGN and Gamespot have both put up their reviews for the game. http://ps2.ign.com/articles/589/589617p1.html http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/driving/granturismo4/review.html IGN gave it a 9.5 and Gamespot gave it an 8.9. Hadn't had a chance to carefully read each review, but it sounds like the AI issue, no online play, and the ability (or lack there of) to damage the cars seems to be the cons, although the game still seems to be the best racer in their eyes despite these issues.
Yeah, I wish they would add damage physics to the game. But eh, still looks bad ass. So, did anyone buy/rent it today? That steering wheel is damn expensive! I wish I could use my pc wheel and plug it in the USB on the PS2.
Just at 10:59 pm CST, as you were posting, I was at WAL-MART and they have March 3rd as the release date on their little posters (not BBS posters... the other kind ) I didn't want to humilliate myself and ask an attendant in the ELECTRONICS DEPT. about why the delay... Anybody buy it last night at Best Buy? I got there too late...
I thought so to but I went to the EBgames I preordered it to and they said it isnt going to be there till March 3rd. Lets just say they got a mouthful.
You went yesterday and they told you not till March 3rd? Hmm, I'll have to check and see if it got pushed again. And why did you give them a 'mouthful'? They have no control over that.
I picked it up last night from an EB Games. So far I'm liking it, but now I'm going to have to learn a lot of new tracks. It lets you import your A and B license and up to 100,000 credits from a GT3 save so you don't have to start off with a used car and work your way up. When you go into the pits now it gives you options to change what tires you have and if you want fuel or not and actually has an animated pit crew doing the work. To upgrade your car you can take it to the manufacturer's area and buy parts from them or go to the tuning area and get third party parts to put on, I haven't checked to see if there is a performance or price difference between the two of them yet. There's a new B-Spec mode which lets you direct the car and the computer does the driving. You basically set the pace you want it to go (slow, cruise, steady, fast, or agressive) and if it should try to overtake the other cars. The events and dealerships themselves are seperated differently now. There's a map screen with icons for each country and selecting that takes you to the manufacturers for that country. There are also icons for the different event types (beginner events, driving missions, expert events) then you can go to areas for city tracks, real tracks, made up tracks, and dirt and snow tracks with a few events in each of them. Overall I like it, they haven't deviated from the past too much but I don't think that's a bad thing.
The EB website shows it as now shipping. Let me know how it is. I will probably get one baseball game this year and I want to get the info on them before I decide which one to get.
This is about MVP 2005 I called EB games yesterday and spoke to a manager and he said they were in. I showed up and talked to him and he said he personally went to the airport to pick them up early. And he told me sorry for the inconvienence and his staff was improperly informed. So I got the game!! YIPEE!! It is has a lot of what made the game last year but they spruced it up and fixed the bugs and made it more fluid. I havent got to play every feature yet but I am planning on it tonight. The only part of the game that has mastly mastly improved is the graphics engine. It has a ton more player models. more on it later..
Agree with Marley. Owner mode is wierd though. I can't do anything without losing money big-time. Doesn't help that the Mariners have a high payroll and a lot of away games to start the season, that's for sure.
I tried Owner Mode with Stros and did a fantasy draft and am trying a small market team. I am trying to build up a top heavy Minor League system that is heavy on pitching. Because pitching is usually at such a premium that if I need a better position player Ill trade a prospect or two. I've been trying to find out who has the best default Minor League system though. Any help with that would be cool. I like how they have Baseball America Top 100 prospects. Sorry about hijaking the thread GT4 fans.
And a GOOD BUMP it deserves. Who has it? I do. Been playing it and I can't remember how I did without licensing first. All ARCADE.
I've finished the class B stage and I only have one track left to conquer to gain my class A license....AND I CANNOT BEAT THE TIME LIMIT! I'm on my 20th attempt and the closest I've come is .345 seconds under the qualifying time, and that was on a GREAT run! The graphics are top notch and the replays are mas deece. Love this game and can't wait for Fight Night 2 this Tuesday. BTW- I also bought MLB 2K5, and my buddy bought MVP. In my opinion MLB blows it away this year. They did an EXCELLENT job upgrading just about everything in the game for 2005. The parks are friggin' amazing, especially the old ballparks. New swings, new replays, true aim pitching...love it. It's practically like watching an ESPN broadcast. I am LonghornFan, and I am a video game junkie. Girlfriend who?
Day 5 in my season: 2 golds on class B license... I was too tired last night. The game has PROMISES. I love the fact that you can trade in credits from GT3, but I don't want to go the "easy way" out. I am OK with my 10,000 credits. Please keep posting updates. I'd like to compare stuff...
I read that CompUSA is offering the game for $38, according to ads from Sunday. I don't know this for a fact since I am not that close to a CompUSA, and thus I didn't get an ad from them, but some people online have seemed to have seen and/or used this deal. Plus, I read that stores like Circuit City and Best Buy may price match if you have the ad, and maybe even add something to sweeten up the deal a little more. Maybe something to look into if you are considering getting the game. Of course, I don't think a single store I just mentioned is anywhere around where I live, so I can't use it AFAIK. Although, to be honest, I think I'll hold off on getting this game for a little bit. If you guys want to keep this thread alive, maybe you can post your car pics here. I saw a few other boards doing this and it wouldn't be a bad idea to take advantage of that feature.
I bought it on the 23rd at GameStop.com store on FRY. Pretty knowledgeable geek employees there. Do you think they would reimburse? How do you get the car pics into the PC? someone show me or RC, let me know what the other board is...
