Stephen King always talks about giving back to people in need, but he does it in a weird way each time, that last one I heard he started talking about how you come into the world naked and you go out of it naked so you should just give while you are alive. It's a very odd and interesting speech. He just kept emphasizing naked. But it does get the point across.
Ahhh, class of 2000, I believe. My commencement speaker was Cosby. He rocked. For grad school this year it was former Secretary of Commerce Don Evans (a poor choice, unfortunately).
HS.....Sheila Jackson Lee....She turned the crowd against her with her Anti-Hakeem position. She stated he couldn't be a role model because he was just a basketball player. At the time, Hakeem was doing a lot for his community (building mosques, etc) that made him an excellent role model and more than just a basketball player.
this may be the greatest thing i've ever read!! wrote a thesis: Literary Progeria in the works of Flannery O'Connor and William Faulkner. Let's just say that, during my discussions with Pauly Shore, it doesn't come up much. i'm eternally grateful to you for posting that!!!
Mine...don't remember...I think I dozed off. My younger sister had George W. Bush as the speaker at her grad ceremonies.
