Just give me Scouts Inc, a few cups of coffee, a 10th of Rick Smith's salary, and I'll hammer out better drafts for the Texans.
really flawed way at looking at the draft in that article. for example you have to include foster in draft finds in 2009. and if crick, out plays most late 2nd rounders in the nfl, he should be included even if he was drafted in the back end. no mentions of newton, who has been one of the best rts. overall our drafting and undrafted rookies have been great. we just haven't been able to luck into our qb. yes, a lot of it is luck from that position. peyton manning was a sure thing but look at the miserable decades before he finally arrived. we will find our quarterback. just R-E-L-A-X for example, the colts from 1980 to 1998, pagel, trudeau, chandler, jeff george and harbaugh. only harbaugh had a winning season. funny thing is that before the varsity jackets game, national guys as well as the local experts were talking about how great the kubiak offense was. that the pass looked like a run and the run looked like a pass thus you had owen daniels uncovered for a td.
After next seasons draft we need to start a thread where everyone posts who they would have taken in each round for the Texans, then at the end of the year we can evaluate. I think I'll crush them.
Funny to think that each time I like a draft by the Texans it turns out to be ****ty. Damn I would be an amazing GM.
i take that back about xsf. he will be the best player in the texans draft. disappointing start, but he has the tools.
Let's see... The Rams, Bills, Raiders, Giants, Tampa, Panthers, Vikings, Jags, Seattle, San Francisco, Arizona, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh _ pretty much any team that got good contributing rookies and or rookies with promise. This draft was too packed with talent to F up. Any other draft and you may have a point.
Maybe.... Offensive linemen are usually the least likely to bust. But that was a ridiculous pick at the top of the 2nd round considering the talent that was still on the board. Is there any word on Nix...? Because he would make this draft look a lot better if he's healthy.
how does 2013 get you a D? our rookie class has a top 10 wide receiver in the 27th pick. you usually get those in the first 10 picks. a play making safety in dj swearinger. yes, he attempts to tackle the ball more than the player but he had a major role in how the defense started grasping the nutty professors' scheme and executing it. A.J bouye also in that mix. He's become one my favorites to watch. that's 3 impact players. a grade of a "B" would be more like it. 2014. I agree but it's incomplete after one season. the injury screws everything up.
That's one impact player in Hopkins. DJ is a middle of the road saftey that would be easy to replace. Brennan Williams, Sam Montgomery, and Trevardo Williams were 3rd and 4th round picks that are already out of league and contributed zero. A D or C- is perfect.
bouye and swearinger by themselves have played better than any 3rd/4th rounder in that draft class not named bell or lacey. some of you don't like to give credit where it's due. you don't get to 9-7 just because. infact 3 better situational coaching decisions and the team could have an 11-5.
INCOMPLETE! Clowney and Nix really didn't play. XSF didn't start, but got better as the year went. Ask me in two years.
Of course we won't really know how good/bad the draft really was till a couple years from now but all we have is now. As of right now, it doesn't look good.
