Not just the usual suspects from the fascist party, but a lot of white journalists sure had a lot of erroneous/conclusory tweets when they saw a black man on a security cam video.
But you are aware that many factors go into sentencing, right? First time offenders might get different sentences than repeat offenders. Etc. So a person trying to over throw a free and fair election in our United States might have a different sentence than someone else who wasn't.
if you think a shutdown is worse than $33 trillion in debt, you're part of the problem we'll all learn the hard way eventually
Sure, I think its considered a misdemeanor... he should be charged with the crime, regardless of whether it was a mistake, accident, etc.
Only if it was willful. “It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to willfully or knowingly give a false alarm of fire within the District of Columbia, and any person or persons violating the provisions of this subsection shall, upon conviction, be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor …”
The emergency exit door was locked, indicating that the fire alarm handle likely had instructions suggesting it could open the door. Depending on how these instructions were worded, a mistake could easily occur. For instance, if it instructed to ‘Hold down for 3 seconds to open the emergency door,’ a person in a hurry might follow these instructions without realizing it would trigger the fire alarm. It’s a silly error, but understandable, especially considering the congressman’s claim that the door is typically open on weekdays, but it was closed on that particular Saturday when he rushed to the Capitol building to vote for the CR. This seems to be an innocent silly mistake that the right-wing have blown out of proportion.
I wouldn't suggest criminal charges but a couple days of detention hall would do. You know he gave his students a similar punishment as the assistant principal.
, paving the way for Gaetz to pull a poitical stunt by filing a formal motion to eject the House speaker the likelihood over the medium term is that McCarthy’s survival will depend on the votes of Democrats. Those votes were the only way McCarthy could pass an extension of government funding, as Republicans couldn’t come up with their own funding bill. Should House Democrats save McCarthy’s Speakership? the lawmaker from Hicktown, CA has proven to the Dems that he can't be trusted. To appease his far right, he went back on his budget agreement negotiated with President Biden last May to solve a contrived debt crisis. And he has gone along with a totally bogus impeachment witch hunt against Biden. I suggest the Dems reaching non-MAGA Republicans (need 5) to elect one of the few moderate Republicans as Speaker, with Democratic support.
