It's concerning that a Presidential candidate doesn't understand the fundamental meaning of bankruptcy and the US financial system works.

"massive amount of spending in the debt ceiling deal"

Disinformation. Except for some funding for veterans, the debt ceiling deal didn't approve of any new spending.

Sounds like the concessions to republicans were pretty modest. Glad I didn't waste my time wringing my hands over it.

Democrats added homeless, foster children and Veterans to an exemption for work requirements which they had before for adults with no children. They also re worded the definition of "homeless" to help broaden the definition....this is huge for the fight agaisnt homelessness..

I'm really not sure what Republicans got at all.....they claim 10b off irs enforcement but the bill says 1.4 billion?

    What did they accomplish LOL

Yep, it looks like the GOP shouldn't vote for this compromise and tell them to pass the House bill through the Senate or take a hike.

Biden played them like a fiddle. Dems absolutely fleeced Republicans

Quiet diplomacy works. I was bashing his strategy in this thread but he turned out to be right. Quiet diplomacy still works in 2023..

Yes, we should be governed exclusively by the desires of 1/6 of our federal government and cast aside compromise.

As a natural born citizen who has been paying their fair share of taxes since I was 15, I feel like both parties having been fleecing me my entire adult life.

Everyone thought the BBB (Build Back Better) Act was dead, but then came the IRA (Inflation Reduction Act). Sleepy Joe does have a good record of getting things done quietly.

I think some of this is faux outrage so their base thinks they fought like hell when in reality they will vote for it but don't want to act like they like it. Some of the gop extremists prefer to default to prove that they matter and can take a stand but at the end of the day there hurting Americans.......pass some dam legislation to get your points across and try and change things, not by putting a gun to the head of the Amercian people. No one is happy and that's the mark of a good compromise. I think you had some adults in the room to negotiate this showing that sometimes the extremists get all the attention but there are real gop members who can work across the aisle.

From your Twitter-related comments, you seem to be of the belief that people shouldn't complain and can just stop using things they don't like. Why haven't you simply renounced your citizenship and moved elsewhere?
