Leftist governments turn the streets over to violent, murderous, thugs but then get offended when a citizen is attacked and defends themselves.

    This is correct
These people messing with this white man’s car would suffer the exact same fate if he messed with a black man’s car in Oakland or Houston too
You don’t roll up like that to a man’s car
Woke people need to respect other people’s property
    OPP
Anybody roll up to a cartel members car , not only would they get shot their heads would be chopped off too

The lesson here seems to be that you can kill anyone open carrying a weapon in Texas and as long as there is no video evidence you retain plausible deniability.

Because when you get arrested you don't want to face a jury with a higher amount of liberals?

Given that he was convicted that isn’t plausible
Deniability. The lesson here is commit a crime that taps into hot button political overtones with a governor who panders to his base.

I’m going to repeat what I said at the beginning of this thread. When you go out looking for trouble that isn’t self-defense. Perry’s own text showed that he wanted to put himself in a situation where he would have to use lethal force. That is the opposite of what you should do and why he was convicted in the first place.

You're probably right that if this didn't have BLM as a backdrop then nobody would care about it, certainly not Abbott.

These cases do reinforce the point however that, when two people are armed and there's an altercation, dead men can't testify against you.

Unfortunately there are a lot of shootings that have happened in Texas before and since this incident. I really doubt that Abbot weighs in on the vast majority of them.

Imagine thinking that you can stand in the road and obstruct traffic, then push up on a man in a car while brandishing a weapon... and the person in the car is unable to defend himself.

Can you imagine just how crazy that is? Can you imagine how the violent left would abuse this across the country if they were able to do this without any pushback? Do we really want to create a society where violent, emotional liberal protestors are untouchable when they block the road? Surely all can see how this could devolve into chaos. Thank you Governor for putting an end to the madness.

The guy Abbott pardoned was a racist with a desire to kill a few people. These are the types of people on the streets and in their cars allowed to legally carry weapons in Texas. I wish those type posts could be reasons to take people's weapons away. These types of guys with weapons makes no sense at all, but then again, all our Texas GOP reps care about us getting that NRA money.

They showed their true colors as Uvalde parents were burying their children. Supporting those grieving hispanics wasn't as important as attending an NRA convention for some of them. You know damn well if those victims had been River Oaks children they would have been right there alongside those parents the whole time. It was BLM protesters, so pardoning the guy by Abbott is a typical move.

Documents related to the case that were unsealed by a Travis County judge following Perry’s conviction show he had a yearslong history of making racist comments in messages and social media posts.

In a Facebook message from May 2020, just weeks before the shooting, Perry told a friend he “might have to kill a few people” who were rioting outside his apartment. The documents also contain a May 2020 text sent by Perry that said, “I might go to Dallas to shoot looters.” Some messages included “white power” memes.

Perry wrote in a 2019 message that it was “to bad we can’t get paid for hunting Muslims in Europe.”

In a June 1, 2020, social media comment, Perry compared the Black Lives Matter movement to “a zoo full of monkeys that are freaking out flinging their sh*t,” the documents show.

Scary part is there are posters in here who probably cheer these types on. When I see those types I put them on ignore. Racism and bigotry is pure ignorance.

Let me aid in your understanding of the broad support for the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution.

    1) Widespread gun ownership provides a check on government power. This is why the founding fathers included it. They wanted a government that works FOR the people -- and when the government is the only one with guns, then the power is out of balance and will be abused. Read the Federalist Papers -- specifically Alexander Hamilton and James Madison. They explain it in great detail. Study history across the world, where governments who outlaw citizens' ownership of guns end up massacring thousands of people -- happens repeatedly.

    2) Protection of one's family. In the conservative community, family is highly valued. Men protect their women and children by owning guns.

We've got 400+ million guns in the United States today. They are not going anywhere. Confiscating guns is one of the most dangerous acts a policeman is asked to do... and no broad-based effort to collect guns would ever be feasible without mass casualties. It will not happen in our lifetimes, if ever.

It’s not a good idea to antagonize someone who’s in a car.
It doesn’t matter if you are Black Lives Matter or you are protesting chickens being roasted at el pollo loco
    @Salvy

it’s not your property and in Texas , lots of people have guns. People work hard for their cars and it’s an extension of them
