Its safer to drive 90+ and not be on a cellphone.
Most drivers I see cruising at 60-70 are constantly texting/talking on the phone.

I don't even think they really had texting back then. Ironically I think at that time I was working for GTE wireless.

I love this logic. As if these are your only 2 options. Either drive 90 and don't text or drive 60 and text.

I'm more worried about the **** I saw last night while driving home, it was 11:30ish and 5 crouch rockets had to be doing 120 easy, I was doing 80ish and they went by me like I was sitting still. That **** was crazy...

You think people who die in car accidents are generally going under or over 10mph?

When people have those crashes in neighborhoods at stop signs and stuff and they are going say, 15mph, how many deaths do you think occur?

No one is denying that you can get killed regardless of what speed you are going.

Simple question - Under perfect driving conditions with normal traffic on a normal Interstate, which is safer - going 65 when the speed limit is 60 or going 90 when the speed limit is 60?

I suspect he meant 'crotch rocket' (i.e. motorcycle).

    It's not that simple.

What's safer, going 90 when the speed limit is 60 or going 65 with a monkey dancing on your head while sending a text message with the hand you aren't using to do your makeup in a 60?

that's not fair. His question is legit. All things being equal, is it safer to drive 90 in a 60 or 65 in a 60?

    ...

I was sarcastically mocking the OPs attempt to deflect the question earlier with the whole "me driving 90 is safer than someone else driving 70 and texting."

Depends on how fast everyone else is driving.

Still can't believe Scarface281 is still trying to argue that going 95 is just as safe as 60 in any instance.

.001% chance of death != 10% or any higher number.

It's like rationalizing a bb gun is just as dangerous as an AK47.

Any event, I believe it was +25 over posted speed limit can be considered reckless driving and taken to jail.

As for two tickets, it's possible you were driving that speed for such a long time, two patrol cars actually caught you at those speeds, but only one "stopped" you . Not sure how likely a patrol car would speed to 120mph+ to try and catch up to you if you were clocked on the opposite side of the interstate.

Do you think it is safer for all drivers to be driving 90 or all drivers to be driving 65.

65, but doing 65 when every other car on the road is doing 75 is dangerous.
