He had the best approach to the game in NBA history. A fine balance of power, finesse, skill that was good for self-preservation and a longer lasting career.
4 seconds of fame, but you met someone who brought infinite glory to the city of Houston and the Rockets. And you show a snapshot of him to us on a website based on the glory that he helped create. the glory known as Clutch City
Cool stuff. I never hear about him coming back this early, it's usually in the summertime. I think a lot of Muslim posters can confirm that over the years.
I think my dad just met Dream playing ping pong at the Sugar Land rec center... and his Chinese name can be pronounced as "Yao Ming"... which led to very disappointing family members at reunions...
I met him when I was a teenager. It was a practice session and the Rockets was filing out the building after practice and fans was running around getting autographs from the players. I saw Rodney McCray and Cedric Maxwell. Then I seen a big crowd moving out to the parking lot. And I knew it was Hakeem. So, I ran as fast as I could to get over there and to see Hakeem in person, up-close, for the first-time. And I wiggled through the crowd and was in front of everybody as Hakeem was standing by his car (Benz). And some black girl couldn't control her emotion seeing Hakeem so, she was grabbing him and holding on to his arm. Hakeem didn't like that and got angry and kinda pushed the girl off and said, "Don't do that!" And he fixed his watch back on his wrist as the girl apparently snatch it off by accident. And Hakeem told the crowd, "Stay there...don't come to the car!" And he reach in his car and pulled out about 20 to 30 black-n-white photos of himself and gave it to a personnel that was with him and told dude to hand it out to the fans. I was one of the first few to grab the black-n-white photo of him with his autographed signed on the picture. And Hakeem was sitting back in his car just bewildered at the crowd going wild for him. Haha.
I met the Dream at Black Eyed Pea as a young man many years ago when he was still Akeem. It's the only autograph I kept over the years. Now my mom has it and won't give it back to me
He's also the greatest player in Rockets history, nobody has come close to his accomplishments, team or individual. Top Individual Accomplishment: Won MVP, Finals MVP, and Defensive player of the year IN THE SAME F-KING YEAR Chances of another Rocket doing this NONE Top Team Accomplishment: Back to Back NBA Championship, including first in team history Chances: not great
