Agreed. Unless you have multiple accidents that weren't your fault, then your insurance company won't tend to do anything with your rates. To this day, I don't understand why anyone reports something to their own insurance company when the accident is not their fault.
The person at fault usually gets your info, and THEY call your insurance. I've never noticed an increase in my rate, and I was rear ended last year, and my insurance contacted me to see if I was ok. No biggie. If they try to raise it, threaten to cancel it and go with someone else. Screw insurance companies.
Only if the other person a) doesn't have insurance, or b) their company isn't covering the entire repair, etc. (my wife is an insurance agent)
well that goes without saying my post was based on the assumption that the other party would have liability coverage to the extent that they can cover all damage
