With the Spurs win tonight it looks like she really got over. Sorry, man.

I would email her back and simply say: "You showed a lot of class breaking up with my via email. That confirms my belief that I'm much better off without you. Thank you. Now I can get on with my life."

Agreed. Though its a not-so-unknown fact thats why a lot of em even HAVE the kids to begin with

You're a bigger man than I am, Major, for standing in being good with her like that. In my very limited experience with women with kids (as well as accounts from friends), just seemed they were always saddled with something they needed to tend to & too pre-occupied with issues. Didnt want to place it back on the kids but 90% of the time its just what it was...Selfish as it is there's times I want to get up and go, & not be 2nd priority and wait on being planned for. And of course also, you might see there's actually things about her really that probably more caused the split from her ex LOL

Oh, and I once broke up with a girl by having a plane with a banner behind it fly over, with the message written on it

I broke up with a guy on the radio when I was in high school. Oh well he should have listened better.

At any rate, she sucks for sending an email. A real woman would have told you without using the kids as a weak spot. Hse sucks.....but wait she's a Spurs fan, so that should have been obvious.

Hope you feel better and you are luckier with the next girl.

Thanks for all the support guys. Am feeling much better thanks to a couple bottles of Mad Dog judiciously chugged. In the end..we were two decent people who didn't fit.

It is never easy, but it is better that it happened now, rather than later. Just remember that even if it feels worse later it will get better eventually.

That's how I've had most of my sexual encounters, so it would only be fitting if I broke it off the same way.

Don't feel too bad, my girlfriend of 3.5 years sent me a Dear John later. Some people are cowards I guess. If she wasn't strong enough to break up with you in person, what makes you think she would be strong enough to be your partner for the rest of your life? Good luck finding a more deserving girl.

    That's lousy.

You will get someone better. That's the harmony in the universe.

this is the way i see Dear John letters. sure, it sucks that she didn't do it person. but, if i was really digging her, it saves me the embarrassment of begging her to stay with me. i wish a couple of ex-g/fs sent me a letter instead. now, that i've grown and matured, i know better to end the relationship wiht some dignity.

at least this way, there's no chance of you trying to keep a relationship together that obviously isn't working for the other.

So... how, specifically, do you react in those in-person situations? Is it something like...
